My family and I are driving down to WDW in Dec. My dad, who is in his 80's is going to fly down and meet us there. He (and my older sister) remember the disney resorts shuttling people from the Orlando airport to the resort. Do they still do that? I've always driven down and was just curious about this. Thanks for any help!

Disney does not have its own shuttles. Disney does recommend Mears and I believe even provides a coupon for them.

Mears, IMHO, is not the best option for getting to a Disney Hotel. Mears stops at many other hotels prior to going to Disney.

We have used a Towncar service in the past and I highly recommend it. They meet you at the baggage claim, assist you with your luggage, and take you directly to your resort. You can purchase both one-way and round-trip fares. We use TTC the last two times we were at WDW and it was great. The fare was $80.00 round-trip not counting tip.

Taxi would be another option, but a towncar might be just as cheap.

I second that! Since your dad is 80, it might be nicer for him to have a towncar and driver waiting for him right at the airport. Like Caverill said, the driver meets you in the baggage claim area and helps you retrieve your luggage, loads it into the car, then takes you directly to your resort. Tiffany Towncar has a $5 off coupon on their web page. Here's their link: www/tiffanytowncar.com

FYI: The usual tip is $10 each way. You pay for the entire roundtrip when you get dropped off at your resort, and you tip that driver $10. Then when you are going home you just tip the driver when you get to the airport and tip that driver $10.

Since you have a car, would you consider going to the airport and picking Dad up yourself?

We did tell my dad that we would be happy to go to the airport and pick him up. That's how we did it when we went down in 97 and he flew down. Since we are pulling a trailer this time and need to get it set up in FW and would both be arriving the same day, he thought it easier if he just took "the shuttle" he remembers Disney doing. When I tell him the cost of the ones offered now, I think he is going to want us to pick him up! He remembers is being free! Surprise!!
