(Post changed) I have my answers, and I wanted to take my story off just in case the person in question reads DIS and sees it (though she is not on DIS...she may decide to peruse it one day and see what I wrote, even though I did not mention a name). She will know I'm talking about her since the story is in such great detail!

For anyone who did not read it, I was asking about a trade I was thinking of making that seemed fishy. But after seeing unanimous "NO!"s about whether I should do it, I am certainly not gonna do it!

Thanks ya'll :)

Scammer. For now.

Untill we get those new pins from WDW or DLR, she is scamming you. That stuff is currently rare. And teh bat magic is well, not very rare.

Don't know if you read the newsletter or not yet, but they are working on a new trade system where the number of stars on magic can be seen in the trade window. If I were you, I'd wait on that.

Run away from that person!

And if you have an extra bird hat, just trade it for a 25 credit pin - to me! ha ha (just kidding - be sure to only buy magic one pin at a time!)

Well - first off - if it "feels" sour to you, dont do it. Trust your instincts. She's not the only person out there with Bat.

Secondly - you never know who is DIS for sure. Hope she truly isn't.

Smells like a scam to me.

The parts that seem fishy are that you saw multiple bat magic pins on her
and you asked her for one-star pins. If she claims she combined them
AFTER knowing you wanted non-combined magic, she's probably trying to
trade you a one-star pin CLAIMING it's a combined pin.

That's why I won't trade for combined magic. After reading the current
newsletter out this week, I'm thrilled that Yavn and the gang are working
on a system letting the traders know how many stars a magic pin is.
Apparently that's a HUGE complaint, if it warrants a mention in the newsletter.

So hold off a bit with her. Don't trade. Here's the scenario I picture if you
do:

You and JaneDoe trade. You put your stuff up. You believe Jane puts up
a four-star bat magic pin. You click accept. You look and see that she
actually gave you a one-star pin. Bam! Quicker than you can say
"Jiminy Cricket", she deletes you from her Friends List and leaves.

No trade is worth that.

Well said Briar

I would say don't do that trade. This sounds like a scam to me and I don't want you to get scamed. That would be terrible.

anytime someone says "Wait, give me this too" when THEY initiated the trade, immediately gets cancelled and booted from my room.

Thanks so much you guys :) I am not gonna make the trade. Especially after hearing that we can see stars in the trade window! THat is awesome! Now if only the new trade system includes an upgrade that shows the title of our own items before we put them in the trade window (like it does in our inventory), that would be awesome. For instance...the hotel pins. Does anyone actually know which is which just by how they look? I don't. (Besides like the POP Century one that says "POP" on it). It would be nice to know the titles of everything so you don't have to trial and error until you get the right item!

Also, since someone mentioned "you don't know if she's a DIS member or not" (even though I know she is not, I asked once)....I am gonna change the first post so she won't accidentally read it.

Mods, you can close this thread, I have my answers! Thanks everyone :) And I need to start reading the newsletter more! LOL

What do you mean by "for now" and "until we get those new pins from..."? What new pins? I don't get it. And isn't bat magic pretty darn rare?

You know you my boy, Blue, but I'm just wanting some clarification :)

Mia, the point was that we can NOT see the stars on a magic pin in the
trade window. That's what Yavn was referring to in the newsletter, and
what they're attempting to fix in the near future.

Trades used to be MORE risky. I remember when it was possible for
scammers to remove items from the trade window as people would click
"accept". The trade window confirmation was a major improvement.

Hey Mia,

If you're looking for Bat Magic, come see me if you can find me in the game. I have extras I can trade.

yeah, I knew that. I didn't read the newsletter, but I have been wishing for that for a while! Especially when I got scammed by a girl trading "3 star snowman and 5 star invisible". I don't remember what I gave her, but she gave me one stars and split. I told my trade room and this one girl asked what the girl promised me. She was a total stranger, but she traded me and GAVE me 5 invisible pins and 3 snowmen! (or maybe it was 5 teleport and 3 fireworks? I don't remember exactly, but it was a lot of rare pins!) That was so cool of her, if not for her I would have been really bummed about the scam.

I heard about that: I think that was changed like right before I joined vmk, almost a year ago. I just hope they keep making changes for the better!

OH, and Q...I already talked to you at closing, but yeah I def need as much bat as I can get. I have two pins, but I'm trying to get inferno again and the boy wants (besides almost everything rare furniture-wise that I own,) lots of bat magic so he can make a five star. I don't want to trade my 3 star (it's my favorite magic!!! Do the BAT DIP!) but I can trade him my one star, and I was hoping to get four more from that chick. Whatever you can trade me, whether it's one pin or 74 (LOL), would be a great big help! I can certainly trade a pirate couch, and we can discuss what else you need. PM me! Glad we are "friends" again! :) I missed ya on vmk!

~Mia~

P.S. How do you do the 'bat dip'? While you are a bat, change clothes (or hair, skin, whatever: just make a change and click 'ok'). As soon as you click OK you dip! If you have enough stars on the bat, you can keep dipping over and over! I love that.
