There are handles with every seat (there's not a lap bar though-- but I think there used to be)-- however the handles are hard to find-- find them though, they help me alot. The first time we rode this, I was in the front middle seat-- so we were the very last people to get on right before the car became dark-- I never saw the handles. I was a mess during that ride-- my nails were in my husband's arm. I was almost in tears-- swore I would never ride again-- being in the front with absolutely nothing to hold onto-- I couldn't handle it. We stayed for Evening EMH that night, and after a few drinks at Dad's Lounge, DH convinced me to give it one more try (he wanted to ride it at night). After a few margaritas, I'll give just about anything a try. When they started lining us up, I asked the girl not to put me in the front, she laughed and obliged. When we sat down, I put my hands on the seat, and lo and behold-- handles. Everyone laughed at me when I yelled "look honey-- handles!!!!" I was really relieved. The ride has 3 or 4 rows divided into two aisles. For most of the seats the handles are down on the right and left side of your seat (you share your handle with the person next to you). For the far side seats-- the one handle is on the wall, the other handle is on the side of your seat. If you are the last seat in your aisle, the one handle is down the side of your seat(but its reachable), and the other is between you and the person next to you. Every seat has a handle though. After we found the handles, I rode 8 more times that night. I've ridden about another 7 or 8 times since that trip. It's a great ride (my favorite)!!!! I'm gonna try not to hold on during the next trip. Give it a try!!!
