I have never done the DDP before so this is all new to me. I know the tip is included. How much does the wait staff get? 18%? How comfortable are all of you not leaving a cash tip?
I just think I am going to feel bad walking away without doing a traditional tip. Anyone else feel funny?

It is up to you if you leave an extra tip or not. For me if the service had been good I would leave a tip.

At 18% of a very large bill, I didn't feel bad at all.

Last trip we were 4 adults and our meals generally were around the $160-$180 mark before tip. I think $28-$32 for a tip was acceptable.

I didn't have a problem at all about not leaving an extra tip. I felt that the 18% included was around what I normally would have left if I hadn't been on the DDP. Actually the inclusion of the tip is one of the reasons I went with the DDP. :goodvibes

AHHHHHH! So the wait staff get 18% of the actually bill? I thought their tip was on the price I paid for the DDP which I thought was unfair because my DH will make great use of the DDP at TS's. As long as the get 18% of my actually bill then I feel OK. I usually leave 20% for great service so I may leave a little more IF the service is wonderful. Thanks!

At Disney-owned restaurants, the servers get 18% of the actual bill. There have been reports that at some of the non-Disney-owned restaurants, the servers get 18% of the allocation the restaurant gets from Disney. However, either way, you should consider the servers adequately tipped for good service. Tip extra for excellent service, or for any special service, or if you splitting a single meal between two or more diners.

Also, Ive been reading that anything you order additionally (cocktails etc...) will have the tip added automatically, so check that extra bill to be sure its included before you leave:cutie:

I never even thought of this! I would probably have automatically tipped and not even looked to see if it was added. I would assume it wasn't. Good info.

Bicker I feel better! Thank you. I think, except for the 2 WS restaurants, everything on our list is Disney owned. I will keep to no tip unless we get excellent service. At least I know they get 18% of what we spend. DH likes to get the pricey items so the servers will do well by us in that case.;)

I met a guy while volunteering who works at one of the character buffets at Disney. He said that a lot of guests don't even realize that they have already tipped on the dining plan (he made like 80 - 90k last year).

The dining plan has been VERY good to servers on property! I don't tip extra with the DP unless it is a GREAT server - though I also only do the DP if it's free. (it is too much food for me, normally I don't spend much on food on property).
