I'm trying to add excitment to a boring subject...

Anyway, We are going to stay at BCV...When we stayed at Wilderness Lodge a couple years ago, I tipped everyone because I didn't know what was proper and when to do it.

There was a man that emptied your trunk, then a different one that carried our luggage up - not to mention housekkeping on this trip...

Then, all reverse: Guy that carried luggage down, guy that loaded the trunk...

How much do these guys get? When do you pay them?

help!!

Anyway - went to the post office and picked up our tix. We leave this coming Friday...

Yippee!

Well this seems to be a topic everyone has a different opinion on but for me I do the following:

Bellhop - $1 per bag
Housekeeping - $1 per person per day

Have a wonderful trip ! still have a bit of time till our July return to the Polynesian

Yup everyone has different ideas, $2 a bag bellhop, 2 a day per person housekeeper.
2 to 5 vallet service.
a couple bucks if someone else takes out the lugguge from car.

I do the 1-2 a bag, minimum five dollars for valet and/or bell services. If it is only me, and I use their services, I wouldn't want to only tip them two bucks!
Housekeeping I usually tip 3-5, turndown a dollar per person, minimum 3 dollars.
Airport pickup from the parking lots usually 1 per bag. The airport curbside check in I do 2 bucks per bag /minimum 10 as I'd like my luggage to arrive where I am going! I don't use this service at my home airport, but frequently I have when checking in to go home.

Of course, exceptional service changes all of these numbers!

How do you tip turndown service if they come when you are out? I have never used this but am thinking about it this trip.

put a couple bucks in an envelope or under a note that says thankyou turndown service. leave it on the bed

The last time we were at DW, I asked the guy who unloaded our luggage (NOT the one who brought it up to the room) What the custom was in regards to tips. I wanted to know if they pooled their tips because it didn't seem fair if they didn't and I only tipped the one who brought the bags to the room. He said they did NOT pool tips and that almost no one ever tipped the ones who unloaded/loaded your car. I thought that was unfair, so I tipped him, too. He was surprised and very appreciative. Now I tip them every time. In the grand scheme of a DW vacation, another 10-20 bucks is not that much and it makes me feel good to see them happy!:sunny:

I always tip the guy that unloads my minivan $10-20. I also tip the guy that brings my luggage up $20. I do the same on the way out. We tip housekeeping $5 a day for 2 adults and 1 kid.
