I purchased 6 day tickets to qualify for the dining plan in September, however we will only be going to the parks 5 days. Is it possible to use that extra day ticket to park hop one time? Say if I went to HS in the am and then AK in the pm with the extra ticket?

No, to enter multiple parks in one day you'll have to buy the Parkhopper addon to your tickets.

I respectfully disagree. It's a whole seperate ticket, I think they could use it to another park. But I'm sure the other dis experts out there will let us know who is right!!!:goodvibes

I am not sure on what kind of ticket you bought. Did you buy a six-day-ticket for each person? If so I believe you can NOT use one of the days to park hop (as the cost of the sixth day is so low that using it as a park hopping feature is not allowed). If on the other hand you bough six separate one-day tickets you could use two of them in one day to visit two parks. So it really depends on what exactly you have.

The first response is correct. If you want to visit more than one park on any given day, you have to purchase the park hopper. The cost of the 6th day is only $8 compared to $55 for the hopper so Disney won't let you use the 6th day to hop.

The OP has a package (room + tickets + dining plan) which includes one multi-day MYW ticket per person in the room.

The same ticket card without the hopping privilege will be rejected at the second theme park you try to enter that day.

At that time here are some things you can do:

1. On the spot add the hopping privilege to the ticket; the cost is the same $59. per ticket card.

2. Return to the park you were at previously.

3. Use a different ticket card. If you were going to the Not So Scary Halloween or other party then the party ticket lets you in (typically as early as 4 PM) without the need to use or even show your regular ticket.

4. If you have the water park fun feature you can go to water parks, etc. on the same day as one theme park visit without having the hopping privilege.

However, you only need 1 day tickets to qualify for paid dining plans and 2 day for the current Free Dining Plan promotions (at least in the US/Canada). You'll likely be able to downgrade the tickets by a day without affecting your promotion (if any) at all.

Nope, the OP must have the hopper option or it will not work.

It's not really. Its the same ticket but with 6 days of admission. Once the ticket has been used for admission at a park on a specific day, it can't be used again until the next day.

OP...why did you have to buy a 6 day ticket to qualify? I never heard of that....

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

Note that the ticket will state on it either "Not Valid For Park Hopping" or "One Theme Park Per Day". That should be a hint.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $8.00 per day over four days on a ticket, but charges $55 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

If you actually have multiple tickets (more than one physical ticket per person) as opposed to multiple day tickets, you can use these tickets for multiple entries. But it makes absolutely no economic sense as a separate ticket costs a lot more than adding hopping to a ticket.

Or, as I have occasionally told Guests who were arguing with me about using a different day on the ticket: (note day of week stated can vary)

The turnstile computer thinks today is Friday. The turnstile computer at the other park also thinks today is Friday. The two turnstile computers talk to each other. If you can convince this turnstile computer that today is not the same Friday as the other computer thinks, it will let you in.

The cost to add hopping (or WPF&M) is $55 ($58.58 including tax) per ticket. It does not matter if it is adult or child, two days or ten days, first day of use or last day of use, the price is the same. (For a Florida Resident it is $27 plus tax.) (Note to add hopping to a one day ticket is $35 ($37.28 including tax).)

So if you are not sure, don't order them. If you find you do need them, then upgrade your tickets at any ticket window or Guest Relations Office. It only takes a minute or so.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for explaining the answer so clearly. I was wondering the same thing, as we are going for 8 days but probably only hopping 1 day, maybe 2, so I was wondering if there were other options - now I know. Thanks

It costs the same to add hopper whether on Day 1 or Day 8 of your trip. If you know you will hop, then I suggest buying it up front and then you'd have the option to do it every day if you like. If you're not sure about hopping, then wait until you need it before adding it.

On a different plastic or paper card? If so then yes it can be used at a different park although in most situations I don't sanction that.

Over the years the minimum length ticket to qualify for free dining or certain discount packages has varied with different packages. Even with a shorter ticket requirement the question of hopping would still crop up since in this situation one 6 day (or 5 day) ticket per person with hopping is superior to two 3 day tickets without.

I tried to do this last year and was not allowed to do so. I was clearly told once you entered one park for the day, you could only reenter that park, even if you had an extra day left on your ticket. You would need to add park hopper to the ticket to be able to enter a different park on the same day.

I'm sorry, but unfortunately the other person is correct. You cannot use a 'day' on your park ticket to park hop. Disney expressly will not allow it. You must have park hopper passes, or you must buy a separate 1-day ticket (the cost of a 1 day ticket far exceeds either the cost of a park hopper OR the cost of a 6th day on your multi-day pass).

Thanks for answering. I thought it was a long shot. I did not hear about the 2 day ticket thing. This is the package I purchased quoted straight from the Disney World websited "For a limited time, get a FREE dining plan when you buy the New Memories Vacation Package for 5-nights/6-days at select Disney Resort hotels for arrivals most nights between August 28 and September 24, 2011." Are there other free dining offers happening during that time? It would be great if I could downgrade to 5 day tickets and save a few bucks.

The website will automatically select 6 day tickets if you choose a 5 night reservation. If you would have opened up the "Theme Park Tickets" section, you could have selected a different number of days for your theme park tickets and it even shows the price difference to go down or up. You'll save about $20 a ticket to downgrade one day. (Go back and pretend to make a new reservation and you'll see what I mean.) You can call and ask to modify your reservation. I'm really not sure if they'll penalize you for doing it in the 45 day window if you've already paid, but it's worth a shot. In the alternative, if you're arriving early enough in the day to get to one of the parks if even just for fireworks, it might be worth it to start your trip off with a bang (so to speak).

I had spoke to a CM before leaving for one of our trips and asked if I could use my MYW ticket that way and she said YES. I thought ok...we will do MGM and AK one day since there were only select things we wanted to do. Oh my surprise when I got to the turnstile and found out we couldn't. I was sent to Guest Services who said I could upgrade but it would be an upgrade from when the ticket was used the first time. We were on our 3rd day. We opted for DTD and swimming that night ;). Just goes to show even the CM's can have/give incorrect information.

And yes....I explained our tickets to her on the phone. She looked up our ressie in the system :).

Actually its $8 plus tax difference between a 5 and 6 day ticket.

I do agree if you get in early on you arrival day do go to a park. Maybe just see what ever end of night show there is that night and then when you go back to that park you can either ride while the show goes on (slightly shorter lines), go back to the resort early beat the rush and go to bed early so you can hit rope drop the next day or just watch the show again. :thumbsup2

Remember its a WDW vacation you need to squeeze as much out of it as you can. :goodvibes
