Question about the WOC "Glow Ears"

The website states WOC Glow Ears are for sale June to September 3rd.

We have a trip set for end of January 2013. If I buy the Glow Ears now will they still function during the WOC while we are there?

They should still function as long as you don't leave them on , running all the time.

Supposedly, the battery only lasts 8 hours. I haven't opened the battery pack in my ears yet to see what type of battery it uses.

They use 3 AAA batteries.

The Disney Parks Blog recently posted something about there being no set deadline at this time for selling the GWTS ears or for using them with WOC and F!, so you should be fine for your trip dates.

From a video on YouTube I saw a while back from Disney they made mention that the glow with the show ears still glow outside of the shows. But the glow varies from area to area in DCA if I remember correctly. Don't know about Disneyland and hotels though.

The ears pick up IR signals from transmitters throughout DCA (and soon in DL, too). Disney Parks Blog says that the ears only sync to WOC within Paradise Park, but there are transmitters in Cars Land (at Flo's, Cozy Cones, Luigi's, traffic light) and at Mad T Party. The new transmitters are at Fantasmic! in DL.
So they won't sync to music at your house, for example. But the lights will blink as long as the battery works (up to 8 hours on average). And if more than one person has the ears, they can be synced together by touching the ears together.

Thanks. So it appears they won't start Glowing with the Show unless you are close to the World of Color. The Grand Californian Resort has that 6th floor WOC viewing deck. I wonder if they work up there.
