Hey folks - just a question - I read in another post about the "Wine Room" at the California Grill. We have never eaten at CG before and are going this December. My wife and I haven't had a real "date" since our son was born 2 years ago. But we're going to have one in December. The original poster mentioned that it was quieter, more suitable for conversation, and away from the open kithen area. Is it possible to request this room? Or is it just luck of the draw, so to speak? Just curious.

God bless!

I've seen a picture of it, but I think I still have the same question. Is the wine room different than the lounge? Is it like eating dinner at the bar?

I'm really looking forward to eating here. It's the one night we have away from the kids.

Hi There!

My husband and I were fortunate enought to eat at the California Grill without the kid :) in August. We ate in the Wine Room. When you enter the restaurant it is all the way to the left. It is behind a door (although the door doesn't close) and very private. All the wines are stored in there, and it is lovely. There were only about 6 or 7 tables in this section. We did not ask to be seated in this section. The waiter - who was awesome - said they typically try to seat people w/o kids in there. I must say that although expensive, (about $150 for 2) it was worth it. If you could request the room, I would.

Enjoy.

Wife and I had dinner in the Wine Room last Monday nite (10/18). It was the best. Food, service & atmosphere are TOP notch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!

I imagine you could request it upon arrival.
Don't misunderstand tho--it isn't exactly whisper quiet by any means. It's just "more" quiet than things in the main area. And they do seat kids in there--we had 4 of them in a large "party of 12" group right next to us the nite we ate in the wine room. Which made the noise level a bit higher than ordinary.

But at the CG, it is the choice for a more quiet, more suitable spot for conversation.

I have requested the Wine Room twice when making PS and have gotten it both times. They will tell you they can't guarantee it but they do note the request. We just follow up with the hostess at the podium when we check-in. We did have a server tell us that they try not to seat small children in there, but sometimes it can't be helped. We like it because the tables are spaced a little farther apart which helps with the conversation level. Also, if you are not there to view the fireworks, it is a great place to be seated while they are going off-no one crowds your table trying to get a better view.

I have to tell my Wine Room Story-Dh & I got the wine room 4 yrs ago. At first I was a little disapointed, after we got seated people would be seated in the room & complain & get moved. That's their business. Well anyway our servers worked together- they shared the room, worked out great. Best service we have ever had. The power went out at the CR-only 5-7 min-well the hoods stopped working & they had to bring in a engerneer to turn it back on. The CG started getting smokey. The one waiter shut the doors to the Wine Room & said bet all those others wish they were in here now;) We did get free Dessert & glass of wine also.

We had a great meal in there, and loved being able to walk out, see the fireworks from the terrace, and then coming back in for our meal. The room does have one wall of windows - it looks toward the south so if Illumination is going you can see it, although no music to go with it.

If you want to have a meal in there, it sure doesn't hurt to ask when you make the PS and/or when you check in. If you aren't in a time crunch to get to your table you can always have a drink while you wait too.
