I've seen that we can request a view...and that we need to fax it to the resort 3 days prior to arrival. If you've done this, how did you word it? I don't want to come across bossy, but just would LIKE a room with a good view. We're at the WLV's and have a studio, so I know there aren't a TON of those rooms. Just wasn't sure how to say it.

Thanks in advance! ;)

You'll get a lot of varying advice on your questions. Some people swear by the faxes, others will tell you that they get thrown away because the room assigners are "too busy" to mess with them.

Here's my experience. In 2007, I took my wife on a surprise 10th anniversary trip to the WL. I had booked a standard view, king-sized bed room. A few days before we arrived, I faxed a letter to the WL stating how excited I was for the big trip and how we had honeymooned at the WL in 1997. When we got to our room we had been upgraded to courtyard view. We were right above Artist Point's outdoor eating area with a view of the pool and Bay Lake. We also found two towel swans forming a heart on our bed. Was this the result of the fax? I'm guessing yes.

In the summer of 2006, we took the kids and my mother-in-law to ASMovies. I did not send a fax there. My requests when I booked were Toy Story (booked before it was preferred, arrived after the policy change) and connecting rooms. The CM who checked us in didn't mention if our requests were met, so I asked. "Of course they were, you had them noted in your reservation." We also did not have to pay an upgrade to the preferred room rate because we booked before the rate change. We ended up in connecting rooms right outside where RC is parked in the Toy Story section.

YMMV.

Thank you SO much. This trip for us is a HUGE trip. Lots planned and many surprises...so when I fax the letter I'll do like you did, and mention how important this trip is to us! :thumbsup2

Thanks again! ;)

I would ask your DVC owner to add your request with member services.

Wilderness Lodge is the one resort where I've repeated read that they don't accept faxes for room requests at all.

Also, I wouldn't have a request of a "nice view" for the VWL (for anywhere really). VWL doesn't have many great views at all, IMO, mostly trees and some rooms might look over the quiet pool on the one end of the building. You probably want to figure out what's important to you and try to be a little more specific, but at VWL there's not that many choices.

We stayed at ASMo in 2005. I had a room request on my reservation. We only asked for connecting rooms, as we were a party of 5, (3 adults two children) traveling together. The request was on the reservation from the day I booked which was MONTHS in advance. Our request was NOT granted. I was then told there was nothing I could do about it as they were fully booked. I did NOT fax in my request.

This time I will be faxing my request for connecting rooms. I plan to say something along the lines of "this is a confirmation of our request for connecting rooms as we are one family traveling together, staying in two rooms". Hopefully they will honor it this time.

I'm sure all guests feel their trips are important. I wrote my letter just from the standpoint of our excitement. I mentioned how the WL had been remodeled since our trip and how excited we were to see the rooms. I wrote of our fond memories of the WL in 1997 and how we stayed in one of the honeymoon rooms.

I did not ask for any special treatment or freebies. I think specific requests may not go over well with the assigners. My theory is this: try to make an emotional connection in a succinct way. This MAY sway the assigner to find you a special room or a neat touch at check in.

Good luck!

I faxed a letter to Pop about 2 weeks before my arrival, very nicely worded, and got all of my room requests :thumbsup2

When we book through Disney, I never find the place to put my request... they have a request for cribs, etc-none that we need. I have read here to fax or note it on your reservation. I always call a few days before arrival-we have never had an issue w/ our requests except once. I wanted a certain building at the Poly but it wasn't available when we arrived so she said if I didn't mind waiting - we did & it was great. Sometimes its nice to take your chances-you my find you like it better!!!!

True, and I will hit on those points. This is my DP's 1st time EVER to Disney and I let her choose the resort. I've been many many times, but never stayed at the WL, so its' very exciting for us.

Thanks so much for all your help! ;)

You may want to ask over on the DVC board, but I don't think DVC properties accept faxes for requests.

Yeah, that makes sense, thanks.

Ohhhh, good thinking on that, one step AHEAD! :thumbsup2

I always get me request in the Deluxe but hit or miss on the Value or Mod.

Hopefully that will be the same for me too!

Very encouraging, thanks!

You never know!

DVC resorts do not accept faxes. Members were informed of this by DVC some years ago.

You'll need to contact the member that you rented from, and ask them to call Member Services and add your requests to your reservation. Make them as concise as possible, and in order of importance.

You can also discuss your request with the CM that's checking you in.

At VWL, there are really only two kinds of views. You'll either be looking at woods, or you might get one of the few villas that overlook the quiet pool and have a view of Bay Lake.

Thanks SO much. I'll get up with DVC owners and let them know what I want! ;)
