Question about the new menu at The California Grill

I have a dinner reservation at the California Grill, but noticed they changed the menu a little bit. I am not an adventurous eater and will not eat "duck fat potatoes" that are served with the filet, lol. Does anyone know if there are any other sides I would be able to substitute?

TIA!

My son got the kid's mac and cheese (he is a kid, lol... we were on the DxDDP so they let him order off the adult menu and he got the adult filet plain with a big side of mac and cheese). I think they will pretty much sub out any other side available at the restaurant, so I'd check some of the other adult menu items too and see if anything appeals... but if you like mac and cheese, it is a nice, housemade mac and cheese... I have pics of it in dining report linked in my sig below.

That said, the duck fat potatoes did not quack or anything. They were just delicious roasted baby potatoes.

Duck fat potatoes aren't adventurous, it's just a different fat to roast or fry the potatoes in.
It's just like bacon fat instead of peanut oil for fries.
Seriously, you won't notice anything except it tastes good.

Do these look scary? They are great! :)

CG may not be for you. Really, that's a super delicious but non suspicious side for a highish end establishment. Just a thought. Maybe review menus if your palette is sensy.

Duck fat fries are amazing. Worth every single calorie.

Oh how I love when my favorite restaurants change the menu! very excited to try some new dishes. Nice not to always see the same thing over and over.

I am SUPER PICKY, and I have to tell you that duck fries are the MOST AMAZING fries I have ever had! There's a French restaurant just down the road from me that serves them and I dream of these fries! I was nervous too, at first, now I'm their biggest fan.

I'm guessing there are bunch of skinny ducks swimming in Bay Lake :)

I make duck fat roasted potatoes at home. You won't taste "duck" but it does add a nice savory flavor, as well as beautiful browning. Just think of it like olive oil, which is a common fat used for roasting veggies.
