Are they worth it? Can we just buy a few? We will have 6 in our party, but what If I buy 2 (as souvies for my DD's to take home) and whenever any of us want to use it (me for my morning coffee, then rinse it out and have any of us use them throughout the day... will that work?) Can we refill them in the park or only at the hotel?? what all is included? water, soda, coffee? Let me know :) Thanks!!

I found they were totally worth it!

We bought one for each of us and would fill up in the morning before we went out. Then again when we came in and usually at least once or twice before going to bed.

You can buy as many or as little as you prefer. They can be used for coffee, sodas, hot chocolate or any other beverage your motel offers. Pop Century use to have the icee machine that was awesome, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Refills are only at the resort.

I feel they are a great value. We usually buy 4 or 5 a trip, there is usually 7 of us, and then we share them.

Definitely worth it!
I was on the fence until our first breakfast at the resort. We spent about $5 on just two drinks for DH and myself. I knew we would be wanting drinks when we were hanging out by the pool and then at night when we came back from the parks. So we bought them and definitely got our money's worth! DH used it for coffee in the morning, then I just rinsed it thoroughly afterwards. I use the mug at home all the time now!

Definetely worth it!!! We go to Disney every year. We belong to the DVC and have found we can bring the ones we had from previous years and no says anything about us refilling it. Its great for the kids! They can then run to the cafeteria and get drinks whenever they want and I dont have to worry about them spending money!

Definately worth it!! There are 4 of us, so we bought 3. Usually DD gets a kids meal, so hers would come with a drink. Or else DS would share his w/ 2 straws. Besides soda, coffee and Hot Chocolate, there is also Lemonade and Powerade. Make note, juice and milk is not included.

only worth it if you spend a lot of time hanging out in your resort.
If your staying at a value resort without a fridge and you don't have access to a car.

When I go to Disney I stay at moderates or deluxe and they always have fridges. we always get a rental so on way in to hotel from airport we stop and buy basics (bottled water, individual juices, some fruit and some snacks, cream for coffee)
then when we check in we just stock or fridge with beverages. Honestly I probably pay more then I would for a mug but its a convenience thing for me. when I get up and want coffee I make it in room I bring the preloaded starbucks pods and use the cream I bought while at market. I also usually will have a juice and fruit before leaving.
We dont spend a ton of time around the hotel so we only eat on site a few times and it also depends on how far your room is from the restaurants and if you have kids.
I have no kids so no one begging me for sodas and such.

So if you spend alot of time on site with kids I think it will pay off. If your mostly adults or older teens and you have a car I'd make do without. I could never see myself carrying the mug to the park if I were taking disney transportation but if you have a car maybe. But I always walk into park with a bottle of water and then Im good till lunch then I usually will use my snack voucher towards a drink or something and buy another beverage durring day i drink alot of water over soda juice so that probably helps also.

Just my opinion

If you are near the food court, they are worth it. If you plan on eating at the food courts they are worth it. A few times we were quite far and didn't use them much but they are fun things to take home and use as well. 2 for six people probably wouldn't be enough, they don't hold a lot, if you plan on taking a drink back to your room.

I usually end up with buying 1 or two a year... my bottom cabinet is full of just Disney cups. Some are resort mugs, others are from the Parties, or the special cups they use at 50's prime time cafe (the clear plastic sparkly cup with director mickey on it). And my mickey slurpee cup from Club Cool.

Totally worth it. We like eating at different resorts a lot, so we fill it up quite often. And we usually share drinks if we're in the park. They got a good tight lid on them, so if you do end up taking it with you to the park, you can pour the soda in those cups for the kiddos rather than leaving them in the paper cups. They're also insulated, so they keep the drink colder longer.

A large drink, 32oz, at Disney is 2.39 (20cents more than a medium, 22oz), and small cups are only used for kids meals.

Worth determined by location of stay. If I am at a value or moderate I find the mugs worth it, if I am deluxe or DVC than not so much. We did the Quick service DDP and were staying at OKW. Would not have paid for mugs there--filled on the pick up and once in the middle of the afternoon on an 11 night stay. Now if I am not using points and staying at a value or mod than I get the refillable mug.

We only bought for the adults, mostly for that morning tea/coffee run.

I had bottled water and juice boxes in the room for the kids (ordered via www.gardengrocer.com )

One big variable is how close you are to the place where they can be refilled. At the Poly, Captain Cook's is pretty convenient to just about all the rooms, so it's a great idea. But from what I've seen, rooms in some of the resorts are a HIKE from where you would get the refills.

I say wait and see.

They aren't worth it for DH and I, we hardly ever eat at the food courts. We don't eat breakfast and lunch and dinner are usually at the parks.

If you're they type that's going to hopping down the hall of your resort trying to put on your flip flops on your way to the bus stop 1st thing in the AM and won't see your room until after the last of the fireworks that night, don't bother. But, if you'll be having an average of at least one meal a day at the food court, for most people it will pay off. Plus you have a souvineer to bring home. Unless you have a lot of people that are going to fight over what drink to get, I'd say buy one mug for every two people to save even more.

We get them every trip but I maybe get 1 or 2 drinks with them during the trip as:
a) I'm ALWAYS the last person ready to leave the room in the morning so I never have time to go down and get a drink
b) I don't even carry a purse/bag into the parks so carrying around the mug would be annoying
c) I'm always exhausted when we get back at night so I don't want to go up to the room and go back to the food court and back to the room

My Dad gets about 5 people's worth out of his every WDW trip him and my Mom go on :) I'm a travel mug junkie so I buy not only the refillable mug one every time but at least 2 more from the parks. I need an intervention.

Oh and since I'm not a Diet Coke fan I always made sweet tea when I would get a drink using Splenda.

Even though we don't drink soda, we fill up with coffee (Nescafe) or Ice tea in the mornings. When we return at night we refill before going to our room with hot chocolate (we usually go during Christmas). We do get a case of water and juice boxes from garden grocer. They have hot water you can rinse out your mug before using. Be sure to get different color handles/lids so you can tell who is whos. Depending on where you stay depends on the design. We had red, black and yellow. DH and I still use ours in the morning at home. When we go back to WDW we buy new ones. No you can not refill at the parks. You are not suppossed to refill at a different hotel but sometimes they do have the same design. ;)

All ears has a good article on the hotel refill mugs:

Take dish soap and a sponge to actually clean them. Don't rely on rinsing because the coffee smell/taste really seeps into the mugs and that won't taste good with afternoon soda.

drinking my coffee out of my original POP mug from their first years... so colorful, it's still my favorite!

I always do the mugs. I always get a preferred room closest to the main building so we have easy access to the refill stations. Usually a fill up for breakfast, (or two) and a refill once we return at night. We just got back last week from a 9 day trip so we earned our money's worth!

I have been getting the DDP the last few trips and felt perhaps I wasn't getting my money's worth because I had extra drinks from our breakfast table services. This year however, I found out that we were able to get 2 snacks in place of the 2 drinks given for the breakfast service. This really came in handy because I would fill up my mug and get 2 containers of cut up fruit, grapes or apple slices w/caramel for my bag during the day! :)

I love having a little bit of disney home w/me so I will always get the mug. I love the new mug with big Mickey on the side of it, so cute! You really have to add up how many times you may use the mug and then see how much sense it will makes to purchase one. :)

I do this too! :goodvibes I fill a travel size bottle with dish detergent and a cheapie dollar store foam style sponge. They stay in my "Disney stack" of stuff that I just repack after each trip! :goodvibes

We have always gotten a ton of usage out of them. I still have one from POR from 2000 that I drink my coffee in, in the AM. We also have ones from PFQ from 2005 when Dh and I went alone for 2 weeks. We used them a TON in those 2 weeks and saved ourselves a ton of money in the process!
Like everyone else said though, it will depend on how much you are planning on stopping by the food court, how close it is to your room etc. At some resorts rooms can be quite the hike from the food court and wouldn't be as handy. Our PFQ was so close to the food court it made it easy to run down there from the hotel room or pool in a split second where it was a bit of a hike at POR.

I  my mugs and use them often here at home too! I also take them to work with me to use...it's makes my co-workers so jealous...:lmao::lmao:

I have those cloths w/ the detergent on them & wash everyones mug out every day.
