question about the "girls only" trip thread

What's the deal with this trip? Is it people who know each other and get together to go or is it Diser's who meet there? Do women go who know absolutely no one else going?

I ask because this sounds like great fun. My "real life" friends will probably never go for a girls only trip but I've always wanted to do one. Is this an annual event?

Hey there! A lot of us know each other now, but in the begining we didn't. We all started as Disers who wanted to meet up and have a ladies only trip. The very first year I knew no one. Not even those who I was going to room with, but now they are ladies I consider friends. Like you, my friends IRL woul probably never do a trip like this, so I was lucky when I found the group. This coming up trip will be the 3rd annual trip.

Hi there!! Don't be shy, like Stacie said come on to the thread and say hello.

I was bored one night back in November '07, and posted here about doing a ladies only trip to Disneyland. I'd organized one to WDW when I lived in MI and it went great! So when I moved to NV I thought why not do one to Disneyland.
The response was wonderful and the first ladies only, (or girls only, the name keeps switching, lol) trip was in April 2008. We had our second annual trip earlier this year (March '09) and the thread you see now is the planning thread for our upcoming third annual trip which is in Feb of 2010.

As Stacie said, by this point many of the ladies do know each other and have meet up for several mini meets through out the year at DL, BUT do not let that scare you off. We also have several ladies this year who are brand new, so you wouldn't feel out of place at all. So yes, during the first trip everyone who went was brand new and didn't know a soul! And this time we still have "newbies" who are going who do not know anyone.

Everyone is very friendly and the group is really a great group of gals. If you post on the thread you'll find it won't take long at all to get to know everyone. Some are coming solo, others bringing family or friends with them. Either way is fine.

All that's required is a love of Disney, and that you be a female over the age of 18. Other than that, anyone and everyone is welcome!! It's great fun, and best of all you can totally customize it to the sort of trip you want. Meaning it's not like going with a tour group or something where you are told do this at this time, and that at that time. You can sign up for the meals you want, the tours you want, etc.
And with such a large group there is always someone interested in what you want to do whether that be fast rides, slow rides, shows, tours, shopping, whatever. So you won't be alone, unless of course you'd like some alone time to wander through and soak up that wonderful Disney atmosphere.

I only knew one person when I went. Was picked up at the airport by a lovely moderator here and was whisked into a whirlwind of "who shall I tag along with next?" fun.

I'd go this year if it weren't for other financial priorities (yucko!), and I would have joined the October minimeet but my birthday fell 12 days before it and I wanted to go for my b'day.

This will be my first trip with the ladies. I followed the first two trip threads and thought it sounded like fun. This October my family trip coincided with their mini meet so I had lunch with some of them. They were all very welcoming and I felt comfortable right away. What a wonderful group of women!

I can't wait until February to meet everyone else. Come on over to the thread!

The trip has all kinds of girls from all over, we even have some that come from canada! And there are all ages.

I bring my mom with me, and some people bring their grown daughters, and alot just come by themselves.

We have an opening night mixer and it's so fun! It's really my favorite night of the trip. You get together and get to meet people you've spoken to on threads and laugh n talk! There is an exchange that night of some little fun thing, last year we did tote bags. There is also some snack food ooohh and we did a candy bar last year. Everyone brought a bag or two of candy and the girls on the mixer night committee made it look sooooo pretty!

There is also a scavenger hunt with teams and prizes. It's just a fun time.

Like Beth said, you can go to this and skip that or maybe see another group within the group doing something else and ask to tag along with them. It's really flexible.

Girls go on the trip for different reasons. Some because they are disney addicts, others because their children are grown and not into the park anymore, some because it's the one time of year they get to meet up with their Disboard friends and others because it's a good time.

Just post on the thread and introduce yourself, if you wanna go.

There is one bad thing noone speaks about the girls only trip................................. it's that when you return from it, you will feel a sadness that you live so far away from your friends you bonded with.

Whatever choice you make, i wish you happiness!

Oh I'm so glad you asked this! I was wondering too but a little shy about asking. My "real life" friends at one time would have gone for this but a couple of them have kids and new marriages now so they aren't for this but my DBFF and I LOVE the idea of a girls only trip. Sadly I got laid off earlier this year and am only doing contract work so I won't be able to make it till something permanent comes along. Will there be another trip maybe later next year??

The trip is an annual event. So far we've had trips in April '07, March '08, the next one is in Feb/March 2010, and there will certainly be another to follow in 2011. They are usually held during the early part of the year as you can see. Typically less crowds, cooler weather, although not always!! lol

So anyone who cannot make the 2010 trip keep an eye out for the 2011 trip. And there are occasionally smaller "mini meets" now and then too.

Anyways, to the OP, and all the others newbies who have chimed in. I couldn't agree more with all of my friend's statements. And they are now my friends because of our ladie's trips.

We can even say that we rub shoulders with one of our moderators! She is the sweetest!

Please come on over to our thread and intoduce yourself. Look at all of pictures, and notice we are pretty normal ladies, just looking to have a great time. Some of us even come, just to have a fun time without our kids and husbands. Ha ha!

Oh Beth, I was the mom of a "dance team" middle high schooler about ten years ago. I remember those days vividly! Have a wonderful time and please do give us a shout out if you see us.
