question about the food quality at Palo's

Oh I do remember Joe Muer's....on Gratiot. (I'm not as young as I'd like to think). I'm trying to remember how many years it has been closed now...possibly 5 or so. I actually went there for my 18th birthday (my choice!) The last time I was there was right before they closed. It's kind of exciting to see that more places are opening up downtown now that we have the new baseball and football stadiums down there.

there's a football stadium in detroit?????????...
you're kidding.....what happened to the silverdome?
we only get back to detroit (well, bloomfield hills) for one week every summer....besides which i was never a lions fan so i probably wouldn't have paid attention whatever time of year we showed up....
as for your age...doing the simple math my guess is i'm more than old enough to be your mother...of course, that's just on the outside...on the inside i'm about 10 years old...:)

The Silverdome is still there but the Lions now play in their brand new Ford Field. First game was on August 24th.

Oh I don't know about that...I'm 42!!! Our 2 and 4 year old keep us pretty young though. As for the football field, yep, they opened Ford Field just a few weeks ago and it's getting pretty good marks (better than the Lions from what I hear!) it's right off of I-375 right by Comerica Park. They've opened lots of restaurants around there so it's nice to see a bit of rejuvenation in Detroit. I have to be honest though, we pretty much stick to downtown B'ham when we go out to eat by ourselves. I just like to be able to walk around the downtown area there and if you haven't seen Birminham lately, that would really surprise you...There are high rise condos going up everywhere and every street around town has huge new "big foot" homes going up. Sadly though, Jacobson's just closed this weekend. I hear rumblings that Lord & Taylor wants to move into the building.

oh...ok...so if i was your mother it would be in the guiness book of records (i'm 47)..
yes i saw that jacobsons was closing when we were there last month....very sad...that was always my favorite store...when i was growing up and when my kids were little....
but i have to admit, since we moved away, i only get to somerset when we come home for a visit...
the closest we got this summer to shopping in birmingham was the borders on woodward....actually we didn't even spend much time at somerset this year...instead the focus of my kids attention was the Gameworks at great lakes crossing (i think that's the name...out on I-75)....while i searched the stores there for their favorite clothes (that we can't get overseas)....
we didn't even make it to the zoo or the cranbrook science center this year, two of their all time favorite places...

The Lions are pretty pitiful...our local news refers to reports as Lions' Lowlights!

Deb

FantasticDisFamily..
and when exactly were the lions anything but pitiful?????......
well....at least they're consistent.....(i can't believe ford wasted his money building a new stadium for them)....
i just bumped into a fellow former detroiter who lives a few blocks from me.....he tells me there's a new stadium for the tigers too....now THAT'S sacriledge....
