just a silly question:

Do you use the clothes of these brands only for work??

Or is it also fashion for young people in the US?

I just saw there is a Dickies Outlet in Orlando, and Dickies is a very expensive fashion label over here...I need to go there and spend all my money when I am in Orlando next time

Where we live (nj) it is for farmers and construction workers, oh and some hunters. Fashion? Not around here.

My teenager has a carhartt hoodie just because it's warm, not really a fashion statement for him. Maybe because we live in farm country it's not cool?

I lot of the kids here have Carhartt coats, and not just the farm kids.

Carhartt is a popular brand with a lot of teenage boys (jeans and jackets mostly). They are not expensive here and are generally found in farm supply stores. I do know that when kids go on school trips to Europe, they have people asking to buy their Carhartt jackets, etc.

Dickies generally is for "work"--uniforms for garbage men, custodians, etc. where they need clothing that holds up to abuse.

Both brands are generally sold at Sears too.

Carthart jackets are worn by a lot of teens around here. I wouldn't exactly call them "inexpensive" though.

So many of the men around here work offshore and they get a lot of Carthart brand stuff as "safety bonuses" though so their kids can rack up!!

Dickies has a line of school uniforms. The younger kids tend to wear Dickie, the older kids hate it . The uniform pants do tend to hold up well though.

I don't know of anyone that wears either brand. Dickies always makes me think of farm workers.

That's really funny.

Here Dickies sells really cool streetwear, but also the classic pants and sweatshirts.
Even those are worn by skateboarders and others.

The Dickies-trousers with the crease along the legs are very famous and unfortunately it's all very expensive.

So if I am in Orlando again I think I won't wear shirts with Dickies-Logos on it, so people won't think that I am a custodian :rotfl:

Can I also buy Carhartt anywhere in Orlando?

A lot of the skateboarders around here wear the Dickies pants and shirts. I don't think you would stand out. :goodvibes

You can find plenty of Dickies stuff at WalMart. I'm not sure how edgy it will be, however. Other than the logo tees, it is mostly all plain blue, white or khaki workwear (the sort of shirts normally adorned with a name patch over the pocket.). Essentially, Dickies is the blue in "blue-collar."

The best place to buy Carhartt in Orlando is probably at Bass Pro Shop; BPS flagship stores normally carry their entire line. I do like Carhartt; it is high-quality stuff.

You can find kids wearing both around here. But Dickies are pretty much edgy street wear and more popular. They are also "gang" wear. :( Carhartt isn't as popular with the teens.

I see a lot of the skateboarders wear dickies pants. I tend to think of them as either alternative teen wear or uniform wear.

I think its funny that these brands are popular in other countries! That's happened before though with some other random brands. Isn't Lee Jeans really popular in Japan?

They both started out as makers of long-wearing work clothes, but they are branching out into the market of everyday clothing.

I knew a lot of kids in high school that wore Dickies pants, and Carheartt jackets. However I did go to high school in Maine. Down in Charlotte, not so much, occasionally a I will see a teenager in Dickes. But I don't think I've seen a Carheartt since I've been down here, of course I don't think it gets cold enough to warrant a heavy jacket.

Never heard of Carhartt, and as for Dickies, I know if a company named Dickies that makes shoes for marching bands. :confused3

The small town in SE Iowa I grew up in has a store that is dedicated to Carhart wear. Lots of people wear it everyday.

I wear Dickies shorts all year round(pretty much exclusively lol). I buy all of mine at wal mart for like $18 a pair or something like that. I also have a couple pairs of Dickies work pants but I don't ever wear them cause I wear shorts to work.

My husband wears Carhartts for work to keep warm. He'll also wear them in winter outside when snowblowing. He wears them as practical work wear, not fashion.

Bought him a pair of coveralls last year for Christmas from their website.
