I just made reservations for Fort Wilderness.:cool1: We don't have our TT yet but are trying to get a TT about 31' with 1 - 2 slides. We requested the 1800 loop but the CM said that with a pet and this TT that we would need to be in perferred loops like 100 - 800 and 300 and 800 are pet loops. :confused3 Was I right that 1600 -1900 are pet loops with all hook-up and cable? Can anyone help me.

1800 is fine for your RV. You do not need a Preferred. Yes 1600 to 1900 are pet loops.

300, 500, 700 and 800 are Preferred Pet Loops.

1600-1900 are NON preferred pet loops. Full hook up but not cable. The only reason you would NEED preferred is if you want cable.

John VN - in 1800 will we still get all of the same hook-up as the 300 - 800?

Cable is only available in the preferred loops. For the 1600-1900 length is not the issue it's the availability of cable.

Sorry if this has already been asked but is the cable the same as the Resorts? We are just trying to see how important the cable will be. ie. Miami Hurricane games.

Thank you John VN, LarryJ and Shannone1

Yup, same cable as the resorts. The only other issue would be internet, as in the campground internet connectivity is via a cable modem. So, no cable no internet. But, at $10 a day extra for internet many people pass on it.

The folks who answer the phone (i.e. reservations cast members) have differing levels of expertise regarding Fort Wilderness. Keep in mind that there are tens of thousands of Disney hotel rooms fitting into a few categories such as Value, Moderate and Deluxe. Most rooms, no mater what property have similar size rooms, room capacities and rules regarding the room. So, the reservations cast members have most of the information regarding rooms in their head. Except for the exceptional reservations cast members, for Fort Wilderness they usually read what is on the screen in front of them. You may need to guide them with your reservation as you may actually know more about the campground then they do. At the very least, make sure they note the following things in the comments for your reservation:

* Type of camping unit (i.e. trailer, tent, motorhome/coach etc.)
* Length of your entire rig including tow vehicles and toads
* Number/location of all awnings
* Number/location of all slides
* Let them know if you have pets

I have actually had instances when making reservations that they said they didn't need any of that information. Insist that they put it in the remarks, and most times I call back later and ask the next CM to tread me the comments:confused3

Okay I couldn't agree more with tim5055. Trust me I worked there and even some of the senior CM's were clueless when it comes to FW. Think about it, if you have never owned or been a camper type person you wouldn't have a clue what all the different class of vehicles, travel trailers etc were. Yes, they can read a screen, but to them it's just words on the computer most of these people can't visualize this stuff and unfortuatly most of them don't stay at FW either to get know to the resort or see the vehicles in person. Heck, to this day I am still trying to talk moderate and the lower deluxe Disney guests into trying the cabin there at FW! So, some types even the guests don't have a clue what a hidden gem FW is!

Anyway, the 1800 loop will be just fine for your vehicle, though you may not have enough room to do the 2 slide outs and an awning. The 1800 loop would give you water, sewer and electricty that's it. You'll need to bring your own satelite dish or something if you plan on watching alot of tv. Oh and by the way, don't even try for 1900 and don't let the front desk try to give you this either with the two slide outs it would be way to tight if you could even get them out at all. I don't know about the 1600 or 1700, but personally with your vehicle I'd request 1800. That being said, I use to be a big fan of saving money and staying in these loops, but now.....

I prefer the 800 Loop "prefered" loop. For one it has water, electricty, sewer and cable access (you must provide your own cable), and yes it's the same stuff they show in the Disney hotel rooms. I'd say the prefered sites are also a bit wider than the 'full hook' sites. Alot of the pet folks here also prefer the 300 loop as well, but I think it maybe a bit to noisy for my kids during the Electrical water parade and the fireworks.

It kinda sucks to have to do this, but I always tell people..... do the best you can on getting the loop/site you want the 1st time around and then once your there scope out where you'd want to stay for the next time around and request it on your next reservation. I went from a 1900 loop only (I camped there for years) to now after my last stay a 800 loop person. :)

PS
If you don't think your getting the right answer from a DRC CM, I hate to say this but call back and speak to someone else. Sometimes it's your only choice....give me a break, you can fit in the 1800 loop especially the low 800
s along the pet walk canal area. <BG>
