Question about SWA and photo ID

Of course something like this has to happen so close to our trip. DH lost his photo ID and all he has is an older expired ID. Even if we try to get the ball rolling on a new ID through some sort of express service, we might not get it in time for our trip.

He called SW and they said it "shouldn't" be a problem as long as he has the expired ID as well as a credit card.

I hope that's the case, but I just wanted to ask if any of you had anything similar happen, or if you have experience with this.

You might want to call the airports or find out from the TSA as well.

Southwest will check your ID if you check in for your boarding pass at the ticket counter or Sky Cap and/or check luggage. If you print your boarding passes online (highly recommended) and your DH does not check anything under his name, Southwest will never look at his ID.

In that scenario, he'd only need an ID for passing security.

Have you checked into getting a duplicate license for him or even a non-driving ID? Here in DE you can get your license replaced same day, we also changed our license from MA to DE and got the new DE license same day ad the registry. I took my dd's for non-driving ID's and they were also same day.

Check with your states Registry of Motor Vehicles to see what you can do. Many even have the forms online, if nothing else I would imagine they have expediated service for a fee which in your case IMHO would be worth it.

You may get checked in ok with the airline but IMHO the real issue will be getting through security.

Another helpful place for you to check would be the airport website you are flying from to check the TSA requirements. Perhaps a combination of other forms of ID and additional screening may be what your up against.

Good luck, if it were me I would have DH take a trip to the registry today to get started, YMMV.

When flying from Manchster, NH to Orlando this past Monday, the guy behind me in the screening line did not have identification. The initial TSA agent told him that of course he could still fly. he then marked up his boarding pass, I assumed for additional screening.

According to the TSA, they will accept two non-photo forms of identification, one which has been issued by a federal or state agency. So, I assume a Social Security card and something else would be good. Expect to take more time to get through security.
