Question about strollers

We are heading to DL at the end of the month!:cool1:

I have a 4yo and a 2yo. My question is would it be better to bring my own stroller, or rent one there? Also, do you think there will be enough walking involved that my 4 yo may want to ride in the stroller as well? In that case, do they rent double strollers because we do not own one.

You can rent double strollers at all the parks. I would say that your 4yo will need a stroller at some stage. We took our own and we were glad we did! If you rent you have to give them back at the park entrance. You then have to get to the parking lot/bus stop and then back to your room and if this is after the fireworks or a long day (they all are at WDW) then this is when my kids needed one the most!

Disneyland doesnt rent the double strollers, but WDW does. Crazy, I know! But i would totally bring your own. It is SO much easier with your own, and you will be less likely to get your stroller mixed up with everyone else! My 4yo diddnt need a stroller, he walked the whole time. But everyones kids are different, so just rent one if you need it. Or buy some cheapo umbrella stroller at walmart, I think you can get one for like $10 or something.

My dd was 6 last time we were there and she wanted a stroller (we haven't owned one for years) I like it becuase if it is crowded I know where she is. I would take your own double stroller.

I would take at least one stroller. Then, if you need one for the 4 year old you can rent one. YOu probably wont need one for him the entire time. But, the one you bring will be handy to take to downtown disney and to get back and forth to the hotel. It also makes a nice place to store jackets and things like that.

Or you could get a sit and stroll. or stand and stroll, whatever they are called. They have them at target, and at Babies are us

I would bring your own stroller. Disneyland is much smaller than Magic Kingdom. Alot less walking. If lil man gets tired by the end of the day you could rent one, but I think he'll be fine :)

We went with our 3 and 5 yr old and I wish I had brought my own stroller at least for my 3 yr old. The walk thru DTD to DLH is a long walk while carrying a tired 3 yr old. If the monorail is up and working you'll be fine, but as I've been told by the DLH manager, the monorail is an attraction not transportation.
Yeah right..buddy.

When you rent the DL strollers (single no doubles) you must return them before you leave the main gate.

Before our trip I was thinking that it would be nice to not have to schlep one more thing. We brought car seats for the Super shuttle too and luggage and carry-ons.

Good luck!

I can't believe they don't have doubles. I only have ds6, but we'll be renting one for him. The prices you pay for one day it's worth it to pay a bit extra and give him a break walking. Besides he can hold our backpack of snacks and stuff.

Usually at WDW we meet up with cousins and put all the kids into a double. The plastic ones hold 3 six year olds with room for packs on the top.

Does anybody have a price? Do they know off a few dollars if you buy a few advance tickets?

The stroller rental at DL is $14, but with a Disney Visa it is free.
That saved us $28 per day (4 days) and was great!
I really like my Disney Visa but the interest rate stinks..I pay it off every month.
Also, we used the Disney Visa for discounts on dining and certain stores at DLR.
Our stroller was stolen while we were at the Pat E. Cake Bday party at the Plaza Inn. I only left new unopened waters in it. thank goodness I didn't leave blankie in there!

Thanks. I almost forgot about the free strollers. I wish they had that at WDW too. Somebody took our stroller at EPCOT. Good thing we were at Spaceship Earth and didn't have a far walk to get a replacement. I usually leave my backpack (sans wallet) in the stroller, luckily I didn't that day.

I have relatives that won't rent strollers for their kids and wonder why the kids fade fast at 4:00.

When our stroller was stolen, I didn't feel like walking back to the front gate to get a replacement stroller. I told my brother-in-law to do something stupid so a cast member would come to us. I told him to lie on the grass (we were at the hub in front of PlaZa Inn) and within 1 minute a CM came over and asked if she could help us and politely told my BIL to get off the grass as the service animals relieve themselves there. LOL!
I gave her my receipt for the stroller rental (Disney Visa free rental but still had a receipt).
I told her our stroller was stolen so she asked my husband and my son to come with her, so I could take my younger son to Toontown.

She held my son's hand and they skipped all the way to the secret nearby location where strollers are kept. She gave my son an Honorary Citizen sticker and was really nice to him.
I guess they have a spot on Main St. where they have a stash of strollers. My husband doesn't remember where it was(he's not very familiar with DL), but he just knows that it wasn't far from Plaza Inn.

They rent strollers and replace them in the star trader store in tomorrowland. That is more then likely where she got your replacement. That would be very close to the Plaza inn. You can't see the strollers there, they keep them in the back room, but if you ask they will get you one. From what I've heard you can't pick up your free visa rental there, but they would probably be willing to replace it with the reciept.

Another vote for bringing your own. You have it for DTD and to/from the hotel at night which is when they are too tried to walk back! Also you can bring waters/juice boxes and snacks from your room and stick them in the basket. Plus ours is just way more comfy and reclines, which is a huge plus for us.

If I bring my own stroller, can I be fairly comfortable that it won't "roll away" (i.e. be taken by some jerky person)? Just trying to decide whether to bring the stroller I really like or to buy a cheap-o umbrella stroller in case of stroller gnomes.

hlbtimes- thanks, I didn't realize strollers were available at the Star Trader in Tomorrowland. But when my husband and son went with the CM they were headed back down Main St, not towards Tomorrowland.
I know it's silly and doesn't really matter, I'm just curious as to where they went to get it. My husband said they didn't go all the way back to the front gates, it was a nearby building on Main St. But since he's clueless about DL, I guess I'll never know unless my stroller is stolen again.

Did both...both have advantages.... With a disney visa stroller rental is free. However you have to stand in a line to get a pass then go over to another area to pick up the stoller. We did this on the day we took the tram over to the parks.
With your own of course it is easier because you go right into the park but if you are riding the tram it gets difficult trying to get on at park opening and closing. (try to get in the 1st or last line....the seats are bigger to fit an open coach).
