Question about stroller as a wheelchair

2 years ago we went to Disney. My son is on the Autism spectrum and we did stroller as a wheelchair on his GAC and it worked out really well for us. It gave him just enough distance from other people that he wasn't freaking out in crowds, and it kept him from bolting every time something interested him. We are thinking of going again this spring, but I've had another baby since then. My older son is 5 and the new one will be 18 months when we are considering going. Generally they use a double stroller. I didn't know if we could still use our double stroller as a wheelchair since the younger one doesn't have any developmental issues. Or will I need to get separate strollers for them?

You can use a double stroller - however, be prepared...there was a poster here very recently who was given a bit of a hassle requesting a stroller-as-wheelchair tag for a double stroller. It was eventually allowed. I just wanted you to be aware that you might get some pushback. Hold firm that your older child needs the accommodation, and for the family's needs (younger child) you need to use a double-stroller.

Enjoy your vacation!

This is good to know!

Tinkerbelletreasure - which double are you using and how do you like it? My asd son will be 5 1/2 on our next trip and new baby will be 6 months. We have been trying to figure out what double will work. Asd son has low tone issues so lots of walking can be hard for him; we don't think our glider board will cut it. We also have the bolting issue and sometimes need the stroller as a calming space.

I was the person that had a hard time in the magic kingdom. I stood my ground and was polite, but firm and got the tag. I didn't have any trouble with cast members at all! If your child needs it, use it. Like I told the cast member that was giving me a hard time. "God gave me a child with a disability. He didn't give me two sets of hands. ". Have fun!!
