Just wondering how the billing goes if you check in during value season, like on Dec 16, 2007, and check out on Dec 23, which is high season. Does this affect the whole reservation? I thought I saw at one point that the rate season that you check in on drives your whole reservation????:confused3 Or do I have it backwards?

that is correct. as of today, your entire stay's rate is based on the rate at check-in. that's expected to change in 2008 however.

you are correct for this year.

next year the new billing - each day has its own rates.

so next year if you have the same time when it got to Dec 20 the holiday rate would apply.

What I did when I booked is split the reservation into two parts. One for the value season rate and one at the regular (or peak) season rate.

The entire reservation is going to have slightly higher prices when any part of a value season stay joins with a higher-priced season stay.

My numbers at Carribean Beach with King Bed worked out like this:

Value Price Before Tax - $160 ($145 + $15)
Regular Price Before Tax - $210 ($195 + $15)

Had I booked using just one reservation, every night on the reservation worked out to around $190 before taxes.

I'd run the numbers for both methods to be sure that you're not paying more than you need to (since my stay started in regular, but ended in value - yours is the opposite so I'm not sure if it's the same scenario.)

If you do decide to split the ressie, you'll have to get the Magical Express (if you're using it) split based on your arrival reservation and your departure reservation and make sure your park tickets are on your first reservation.

as already mentioned, your entire stay's rate is based on day of check-in, at least in 2007.

if you check in at a value, your rate is value the entire stay, even if 9 out of 10 days is peak or summer or holiday. there's just no way the daily rate could be higher or an average of two different rates.

the only time you should be booking two separate reservations is when there's a season change to a lower rate during your stay, or if you have to in order to take advantage of some special offer.

pending the details, it actually sounds like you're paying a lot more than you should be right now with 2 reservations. i have to question the original quote that caused you to make that decision.
