Question about split stay (offsite followed by onsite) and FP+ booking window

I currently have a room/ticket package reservation for one night at POR (May 19) and 5 day PH. We will actually be staying offsite from May 15 until the 19th. This is the first time I've ever done a trip like this so I'm a little confused about my options for booking FP+.

I chatted with a representative on the website this morning while booking the package and she told me that the way it is now, with my package reservation, I cannot book any FP+ until the 19th; however, if I split my reservation up into a room only (which will allow me to book at 30 days out) and then add the park tickets separately (which will allow me an additional 30 days), I would be able to book FP+ at 60 days out. This doesn't make alot of sense to me, but I thought I would check with the experts to see if that's correct?

That package info is correct.

Change your reservation to room-only and buy tickets separately. They are less expensive through a reseller.

See the Split Stay section in mesaboy2's FP FAQ at the top of this forum. :)

And I can then book at 60 days out? I did read that section, but was still a little confused.

And this may be a stupid question, but if I start using my tickets prior to our onsite check-in (like activate them on the 15th prior to check-in on the 19th), how does MDX know when my first park day will be to allow me to book FP+?

Yes. Your window fully opens for a complete 60 days + length of stay and you can book for any of those days.

The system knows your check-in date and opens up 60 + Stay booking availability.

To explain further: when tickets are in a package, they don't activate until your exact check-in date. When you purchase tickets separately, they are active the moment your buy them and you automatically have a 30-day open window for booking. At your 60-day moment (7:00a) your booking window fully opens.

So if check in is on May 19th and our first park day is May 15th, I should be able to book FP+ on March 20? I really appreciate your help on this, hiroMYhero! :goodvibes

Just think of 60 separate open windows that appear on your 60-day mark and that includes all the days leading up to your onsite stay.
