We have an 8 day trip booked for November at Kidani. Our first trip "HOME", but I am thinking about only staying for 4 days and then trying another resort for 4 days. My question is if we have the DP after the first four days and we have meals or snacks left unused would they expire or would we have the entire 8 days to use them?

Credits for the DDP will expire at midnight of the day you checkout of a resort.

Since you will have two reservations, all of your unused credits will expire at midnight on the day you check out. Also keep in mind that when you check out, theoretically you are checking into the new resort, giving you another full day of credits to use. This might not be a problem, as long as you have a late departure scheduled on your last day.

If you split your stay you will have 2 separate reservations. If you check into Kidani on Sunday, let's say, and check out on Thursday (4 nights), your DDP on that part of your reservation would expire at midnight on Thursday. Any credits you have remaining on that key card have to be used by midnight. If you're getting the DDP for the second half of your stay (you don't have to), it would start on Thursday when you check in at your new resort and expire at midnight of the day you check out. Hope I explained it clearly! :goodvibes

Hmmm, I was afraid of that. To me, it means even more careful planning for the meal plan. Maybe that would be a good reason to only get the plan for part of the trip instead of the whole trip....Something else to consider. Good thing I still have 10 months to think about it!

Yes, thank you. I thought that was how it worked but wasn't sure. Never did a split stay before. Now, I just need to convince DH about a split stay - that is what I want to do, not him.

And this is likely your best and cheapest option. Either way, you'll have an extra portion of the day you change resorts to use up credits if you only do 4 days of 8 on the DDP. If you check out of a resort after the first 4 days, you'll have all day until MN that day to use any credits. Same if you get it for the second half of your stay, you'll have all day the day of check in at the second resort starting from when you actually check in regardless of when you get your room. If you check in early, that gives you as many as two extra meals to use the plan. Look at the time you arrive and depart to see which option will give you the most time and number of meals. If you arrive earlier on day 1, that might be your best option. If you leave later on day 9, that then might be your best option. Regardless, it will take some planning but not that much more. Just plan your restaurant choices accordingly and it could work out better than getting it for the entire time.
