I was considering applying for the Southwest Credit Card everyone on the forum is talking about. When looking over the application, one of the first questions is if your credit history is clear of bankruptcy? Does anyone know what that means? DH and I filed for bankruptcy about 16 years ago. It has long since come off our credit report. Our credit is excellent. I don't usually see this asked so directly. I don't want to be dishonest. I also don't want denied for a bankruptcy they are not going to see when they pull our credit report. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Chase Bank's reputation is a flat-out denial if a bankruptcy is still reporting on one's credit report.

If it's been that long, those are gone and you should be ok. I was denied by Chase last year (after I bought a new house) even though they held my mortgage because I had a BK still reporting.

That's gone from my reports now and every time I go into a branch they tell me I'm pre-approved for a credit card (I tell them thanks but no...I'm set on those for a while :) )

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought. I just don't want to be dishonest. Always bites you in the butt later. The Southwest card looks like a good option for a future Disney trip. Would be nice to fly rather than drive from Ohio.

yeah...just say no to that part and wait for the card to arrive and book the flight! :)

But, always good to keep an eye out on one's credit report regularly. Get your *hardcopy* reports from here:
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

Often the hardcopy shows information not available from the myriad online free credit report places.
