question about shoes

Last summer my step children both lived in sandals. we are planning a trip to disney for the end of june. do i let them wear their sandals the whole time or do i try to find comfy sneakers for them? they are ages 4 and 8. the sandals are the kind with the strap across the back, no chance of falling off.

I personally would encourage them to wear comfortable sneakers, or at least make sure that the sandals offer some kind of support and won't rub (causing blisters) because you do a ton of walking at WDW. Of course, if you're planning on renting a stroller so they won't be on their feet all day, then their regular sandals might be just fine. Just my 2cents!

There are alot of people who love sandles, but I can not stand to wear them with all the extra walking. That being said, I would advise that you atleast have a pair of sneakers that have been broken in to take with you just in case. You never know. One may love the sandles and have no problem, but the other one may have a problem.

We always take an extra pair of shoes anyway just in case one gets too wet to wear.

My 7 and 9 year old girls wear flip flops...well broken in ones...all year long at Disney. They only take sneakers in the winter and put them on only at night! They know my rule...you pick out the shoes and if your feet hurt keep it to yourself. They always pack sandles and other flip flops but seem to wear the same ones over and over again. Mine love REEF flip flops...about $30 a pair but last long, have arch support and are very comfy. I wear the same thing. Never had a blister or sore feet feet and we are sun up to park close family.

I say let them pack their favorite most comfortable shoes and let them pick the 1st few days. They will change their shoes if their feet hurt!

I would pack sandals and a pair of tennis shoes. Then they can alternate back and forth. Just make sure that both shoes are broken in before you go!
