So excited that our first trip to Universal is almost here! I am wondering whether you need to wear shoes with backs on them. I have good walking sandals that are slip-ons and dd is addicted to flip flops and will want to wear them sometimes even if I usually try to get her to wear sneakers. Are flip flops a no-no for any ride, and if so does it mean you can't ride or that you have to leave them like you would on Soarin? Thanks!

I wear my Merrell sandals to the parks always. Dragon Challenge is the only ride I have removed them and sat on them. Honestly though, they aren't coming off. Loose flip flops could be an issue.

Just like Jessica said, the worst thing is they make you take them off and sit on them.:thumbsup2

I always wear my OluKai Ohana flip flops down there. On rides like Forbidden Journey or Dueling Dragons, just take them off and sit on them. You can't leave them on the floor like you can for Soarin because you don't exit at the same place you load.

We were told that about 3 people lose their flip flops on Forbidden journey every day!
My daughter didn't want to sit on hers so chose to wear sneakers.
Little flip flops are OK, but birkis are not comfy to sit on!

Thanks everybody! I never thought about sitting on them. I don't think that would work so well with mine, but I guess my daughter will have to choose between sitting on her flip flops and wearing sneakers.

I wore my Sandal Crocs for our trip last year and the first time I rode FJ I swore they were going to come off. So after that I put them in the little cubby behind the seat. On the coasters I would just sit on them if it was one where your feet hang like DC and then Manta at SW.

The first time I wore flip flops on Forbidden Journey, I did lose one. It wasn't my fault though. The long legged lady next to me, accidentally swung her leg over toward me and her foot caught the back of my flip flop knocking it off.:rotfl: Thankfully they sell Yoga Mat flip flops down there and I had to buy a pair. They are fairly comfortable, but not as comfortable as my beloved OluKai Ohana's I lost.

Since then I always sit on my flip flops. I wore a pair of Sketcher Tone Ups with the thick soles once. They are not as comfortable to sit on, but doable. Since then, I wear only OluKai Ohana's over there.
