question about selling things for credits

Is there a list of how much things sell for if you are selling for credits?

Some of the things I have seen selling, are for the most outlandish prices.

For one single quest item (not even rare) most seem to want more then half the credits I have managed to save in over 6 months of playing VMK.

Something that would sell for about 400 to 500 in vmk people are trying to sell for 26,000 "starting price". I know everyone wants "all they can get" but I will never pay those prices.

But there are people out there who pay those prices just so you know

I saw someone on another board trying to develope a formula. It was an interesting thought and she put a lot into it but went more to value. Nano is right, unfortunatly people are paying those crazy prices. I haven't used credits for trading but see it is very popular and if I did there is nothing out there I see as worth over 10,000 credits... but then I payed 20,000 credits a piece for 3 quest machines I don't use so what do I know.

I am sometimes shocked at what people will pay for things. But as annyone that ever bought a Cabbage Patch Doll (I am aging myself here) an Xbox or any other hot item knows, supply and demand causes people to do crazy things!

In VMK you can sell an item for 1/5 of what it was bought for so like a 25 credit shirt will sell for 5 credit

26,000 for a single things would be half of all the credits I have.
It look me 6 months to get that.

Nothing in VMK is worth 26,000 to me.

To be honest I didn't buy any of those things in real life then nor would I now.

I guess I'm as poor in real life as in VMK. I guess when there are some months when it is a struggle to pay the mortgage and buy food in the same month one can be called poor. :)

what are you trying to trade for???

Mal, there are many things that I don't have that I would like to get to finish my collection. But I'm not really willing to trade away my only rare copy of one thing to collect another. My choice I know.

I was just looking at the trade board and seeing what was there. After February I had 7 room codes for the same room. I used 3 of them and didn't really need any more of them. I thought to trade a few for something but no one wanted the deal. But a few days later I see the same room selling for 7000 credits. I thought that was really a lot. Rooms were selling for 500 on VMK when this room was released. A reasonable profit would be 1000 to me.

I was wanting to know if there was some list somewhere were rare, beta or quest was listed as credit price, so I could know what to ask for my room since that seems to be the way to go now. :(

I really didn't like the idea of "selling" things for credits when the quest machine first came out and I like it less now that every one is asking so much.
I can see asking for credits for about the same as what VMK would sell the item for (plus a small profit) but to ask for about 1000 to 2000 times that amount? No - never. But I guess some people will buy it. Their choice I know.

I did like the use of the quest machine to pay back someone who bought something for you when you were unable to get on VMK like for a vacation.

Paul and I will be taking our first vacation in 5 years at the end of the month, and I'm hoping someone will help me out there and I can repay them that way.

You know, Cat, I've seen the price for things sky rocket with the quest machines and people trading credits.

And Nanoer is right- the prices will remain high as long as people are willing to pay- and will only get higher as the trader's greed gets more and more pushing those limits and asking for more.

I think many people are willing to "pay" more in credits because if they are good at games or whatever it isn't that difficult to earn again. But that isn't true of everyone.

The greed of some is amazing- you see them asking more and more and more for things that are not any rarer than they were 4 months ago. This is with credits and with items- it really is outrageous. I read some trade boards and the lists things people will accept is a bit much and then they seem to get it some how. I just can't bring myself to ask that much for some stuff- lol- but at least I know I can sleep at night. (well I'm sure there are those with no conscious who sleep just fine and gouged others too)

But there is no "set" pricing but it may eventually come out more and more where quest and retired items are given some form of "standard" price in credits.

But hang in there- make your desires none and who knows someone may offer you a fairer trade than others- who just want it all and lots of it

Personally, the only thing I've ever traded for above 20k is a stitch pin. Right now you can get regular Quest for abou 3-5k a piece, which really isnt too bad.

Are you having problems with many people asking this much for an item? Or is it just a select few? If it's just a few, try some other people, even on the DIS. :)

The reason I like buying things with credits is I know that I can always make more credits. If I trade rare suff to get more rare stuff I can't make back the stuff that I traded. If the other person is happy getting credits then I'm happy to be able to give credits to them.

I don't know why people do it. I don't think I would give up any of my retired stuff for credits. I don't have that much of it to begin with :)

Well, I have a few odd pieces of the older quest here and there. Most of my extra old costumes have long gone. I have a couple of pink dresses left and a few extra hats that I'm holding on to. I thought I had about 5 blue dresses but when the inventory changed it showed only 1 blue dress. :confused3

The newer costumes I think I will have to hold on to for a couple of years before they become valuable. lol

I had 1 pirate prison room and 4 tent room codes left but I couldn' get anyone to trade with me for them. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I entered into several trades this month for staff room pins (mine) for other things and just about every time the other party backed out. :confused3
There are a couple of staff games I can actually win a few times a month if I don't use my main character, she can't stay connected but the mules can, so I had thought they would be good trades but I guess not.

I see other people trading the same things and getting fabulous deals and I can't seen to give mine away. :confused3

I guess I'm the world's worst trader. I'm just looking for a semi fair trade for both parties. Sometimes I have traded things I really didn't want to but the other person wanted it so badly. I gave away 3 crowns last week for about 500 worth of buyable things because the kids wanted them so much and no one else would trade with them.

Anywho...........I was just wondering if there was something I was missing the value listing department that I might be able to find to help make me a better trader. Well I just wish we could get to WDW more often. We live in 3 hours of it, but it just cost so much to go even for the day so we can only get there 1-2 a year.

There is no set value for trading items. That is part of the art of trading, seeing what value you can get for something.

As for WDW, at least you can get there that often. Be happy about that!

Hi Cat,

I don't really understand the high prices either. Supply and demand explains it but it still doesn't make much sense to me. I give stuff away all the time. On the other hand, I spent a fortune on Beanie Babies. :sad2:

Do you still have the Pirate Prison Room? If so, send me a list of items you are looking for. I have tons of stuff stored in various rooms and I'm certain we could work out a deal that you would like.

If you are still going on vacation, let me know. I'll get the any new items for you including in game quest items. All for free just because you are an awesome person!
