Can you just sell it back to Disney directly or do you have to go through a resale broker?? Thanks.

It has been reported that Disney will buy them back, but at a much lower price than selling through the broker.

Has it ever been reported that Disney would buy them back directly?? I thought it was just the opposite, that they've turned down seller's requests...

It's easy enough to find a broker & if you want to sell very badly, just price the points "right", you'll get a buyer before no time & Disney will exercise it's ROFR....

Just to be clear...you don't have to go through a broker. You can sell it yourself on e-bay or other avenues. Personally, I'd work through a broker as they have the expertise to facilitate the transaction and would be well worth their commission. But many handle the sale themselves as they might their own home.

Chuck...I hadn't seen that report. My understanding was that Disney does not buy back contracts except through the ROFR process. After all, that way they don't have to negotiate the price and they can pick and choose the low price contracts. I suppose if they were interested, they could always provide a lowball price as you indicate. After all, why should they pay "top dollar" when they are scooping up contracts every day that are heavily discounted? I would think that any seller would come out on top selling through a broker, even after the commissions, rather than selling directly to Disney.

There was a discussion thread about this some time ago. Both another mod and a timeshare reseller confirmed that Disney has said they will repurchase, but at low prices. It was the first I had heard of it, too. I would only use that option in an "I need money NOW" situation, as it was about 1/3 lower than current resale prices. And of course, those policies can change without notice. It would certainly be to any sellers advantage to use the normal resale route.

I remember the posts that Chuck is referring to. As I recall, Disney offered to buy the contracts at a price in the $50-$55/pt range.

Yes, Disney will buy direct. However, we do understand that their offers are quite low compared to what someone could get selling via a broker, even after paying the commission.

Thanks for the info...must have been during my "board hiatus" :rolleyes1

It makes sense that Disney would have that out there...no downside to them since they're setting the price. I just hadn't heard it. Appreciate the continuing education I get here. :thumbsup2
