I know this segmented plan stuff is as clear as mud but for those who have done it did you have to go to the front desk each day you get a new dining plan or did you also ahve to go on the days where you had no dining plan. For instance we have it the first day but not the second will I need to check in at the front desk again on day 2 even though I will not have a DDP that day?

Ours was a little different than yours, since we were getting in a little late we did no dining plan the first day, and then the dining plan the next 2 days. No problems at all, no checking back in. Credits were on the card the next morning. (this was at BWV .. I don't know if folks have ahd issues just at a particular resort or all in general).

The less number of changes the better the chances of not having problems. You either have a reservation with the plan or you don't. Depending on which resort you are staying at, when you switch from a reservation with the DDP to one without or vice versa, you my have to go to the front desk and check out/in.

I have segmented around 3-4 times so far, most recently at BLT 6/29-7/11. It never seems to go smoothly.

I think it all depends on how your reservation is in the computer and what dates print out on your KTTW card when you check-in. Everytime we check in, the CM takes a while and gets confused when they look at the reservation.

For example, if you check in on 6/29 and have 1 night of dining and the checkout date is 6/30, then yes you will have to go back down and get another card the next day because that card will lock you out of your room at 11am. However, everytime we have checked in, they card is always printed with the full reservation dates on it (6/29-7/11) even though we had any segments within that.

We have been locked out of our room the next morning after check in for the past 3 visits because the key locked us out after 11am. It seems that the only way it works correctly (at BLT), is to have a different card for every segment of the plan, but the card has to be printed that way. Unfortunately, that means many stops at the front desk with every change for a new card.

It really is a pain, but if you want to segment that's the way they have you do it at BLT.

I segmented the Dining plan for our 5-night March '11 stay at BWV.
1 night QSP
3 night DDP
1 night nothing

And at no time did we have to go back to the front desk to get new key cards when there was a change in the dining plan.

I've heard others have the same experience at BWV, but not be so lucky at BLT or VWL.

The only issue we discovered was the night before our DDP was to expire, MommaBear wanted some snacks at one location and I wanted snacks at another... so we split up. Come to find out MommaBear didn't have the credits loaded on her card. Fortunately I had already caught up with her and was able to hand my card to the cashier and MommaBear got her snacks.

Other then that little snafu, we were good, and most likely wouldn't have noticed if "someone" didn't crave panucchi fudge....
