I am "Pooh" sized an am concerned about the seating at DHS Sci-FI restaurant. I tried searching but couldn't find anything about the size of the booths. I've never had any problems with the rides but I seem to remember someone talking (few years ago) about the small size of the "car booths" at Sci-Fi. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

I guess it depends on how Pooh Sized you are. I am also a Pooh myself, and do not have a problem. That being said, I can see how it would be a problem.

There are also tables set up inside of some cars that would allow for anyone to fit...

Have fun

I am not Pooh-sized but I felt the booths were fairly narrow. There are some tables that are not car booths. You could ask for one of those on your reservation.

I agree. Not pooh sized either but they were a little on the small side. Would fit two people to a section and you were right up on the table. They have tables in the back like patio furniture. Ask for that when you book your ADR or when you check in. Usually easy to get because everyone wants cars.

my dh considers himself pooh size:confused3 not sure you would, but he didn't have any problems at Sci-Fi and in fact, it was his 2nd favorite meal of all!!! and we ate at some GREAT places... Coral Reef was his 1st choice...:woohoo: I didn't think they were too bad. they do have one of the cars outside you can sit in and check it out first ;)

i am pooh-pooh (double!) sized...at 270 pounds and I had no trouble at all being comfortable in the Sci-Fi seats and my companion was also Pooh X2 and had no issues either.

I'm surprised by these posts that say the seating is okay. I am Pooh sized and do not fit in the car booths. They are too narrow for me to sit down. I don't have trouble on any of the rides, but can't sit in the booths. I just don't want the OP to have an embarrassing incident if they, like me, carry their weight in the tummy.

OP - I eat at Sci Fi, I just ask for a half car/half table which in a table with regular chairs and a car front and back.

I'm not pooh-sized, but am cognizant of booth/ride/seat sizes, and thought the car was very narrow for folks. As Shellybaxter stated, it does depend on how you carry your weight. If it's on top and in your midsection, it might be too uncomfortable - espcially if there's another person next to you.

But as others have stated, when you make your reservation and/or check-in, just request the table with chairs (not the high-top called "saucer with seats"). Those are easier to get because people don't usually want those - and those are usually the ones they give to walk-ups.

I don't mean to hijack your topic - but here's another question -

Is ALL the seating in booths? How large of a group can they accomodate? Do they have any regular large tables? I am planning for a group of 16 - so we'd need 2 tables of 8 or something like that.

Thank you so much for all the input!!! I think we'll make the reservations (my dds will love it). I'll inspect the seat out front before going in and if it looks too small will request a table. I'm an "apple" and carry my weight around the middle but usually don't have problems with the booths in regular restaurants. I'm just glad to know there is another option in case I do have a problem.

Hi Pandamom,

Be aware that the car out front doesn't (or at least didn't when we were there) have the counters in it. The opening are plenty big on that car because the "table" part is missing.

You'll love Sci Fi. I just don't want you to have an embarassment like I did the first time. I almost didn't go back until I realised that the tables were available.

I agree that the tables can be a tight fit. I can barely squeeze into a booth, but it's not comfortable.

I've got to disagree with everyone that says the table cars are easy to get. We were there for an early lunch in January. Keep in mind this was before the usual lunch rush and the slowest time of the year. We were told that despite our lunch reservations, a table car would be a 45 minute wait (there were numerous booth cars available).

So if you want a table car, in addition to making an ADR, I'd swing by the restaurant when it opens and ask them to hold a table car for your dining time. Otherwise you might be in for a long wait.

I always ask them to make a note on my ADR that I need a table car because the booth cars don't work for me and my family. I've never had a problem or a wait.
