question about scooters

I am going to Disney in september.....we are going to have 3 scooters....there will not be enough room in the room for ask the scooters to charge.....do you think they woll let me keep the other scooter in the lobby to charge

They might surprise me, but I doubt that they would permit that. You may need to take one of the scooters apart (break it down into pieces) in order to have room to store it, and simply charge its battery. Even the larger, heavy duty scooters can be taken apart relatively easily. Some resorts have allowed scooters to be stored in the hallways, but that's not supposed to be permitted either, I don't think. You'll need to check with them and see what can be done and what can't.

It varies from resort to resort. The Grand Floridian said to park the scooters in the hall, or on a covered patio that wasn't being used for a banquet at the time. The Grand Californian also said to park in the hall, and bragged that they hadn't "lost" a scooter yet. The Disneyland Hotel said it was a fire hazard and wanted the scooters parked in the lobby.

Other (non-Disney) hotels have plugged them in to recharge in their luggage storage rooms.

i emailed to the Disney website with a similar question. We don't think we will have enough room in our two-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk for the two scooters we will have. i have previously seen scooters parked in the hallway there and plugged in overnight. i asked them if that would be okay. Have not received a response. But that is my plan for when we get there. i suspect they will make other accommodations if they don't want us doing that.

This is something I noticed immediately when we had our tour of GFV before buying - the studio is so cramped I asked where on earth I'd park the scooter to charge it! There's room in the 1-bedroom but the only place in the studio is in front of the interconnecting door - and then the question is whether there's a convenient power outlet.

Staying at AoA this year in a suite, there were 2 walls I could park against but the only place with a convenient power outlet that didn't involve trailing wires and a trip hazard was in front of the kitchenette! The first weekend we were there someone parked a scooter in our building's foyer just inside the door (but out of the way) where there was a whole bank of sockets. I don't know whether they got permission or just did it off their own bat. There was also some room in the hallways and power outlets at regular intervals down the walls - but I think these are probably for the cleaners to plug the vacuum cleaners into.

You can have Housekeeping remove the table and chairs if necessary. I'd be reluctant to leave such an expensive piece of equipment out of my view/control for any substantial length of time. The renter is responsible for any damage or loss.

If you end up fitting them in and using extension cords (can you use them with a scooter? I don't know) bring some blue painters tape with you and use that to tape down the cords so it isn't a hazard. The tale is light and removes without damaging.

i used to recommend using a power strip (not just an extension cord), but I have noticed recently that the scooter companies are recommending against doing anything that is not directly plugging the charging cord into the wall.

If you rent from one of the Disney Featured Providers listed on the Disney website (or see post 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread), you may be able to have Bell Services store and charge the ECV for you. They will definitely not do it for companies not on that list.
I personally would not park it outside of the room because I am a little too paranoid about something happening to equipment I am responsible for. I would definitely not unless it is one of the Featured Providers since they are actually the only ones approved for delivery/storage to Bell Services and storage outside of rooms because of their contracts with Disney.

Be aware that some companies that are NOT OFficial Disney Featured Providers have things on their websites that imply they are. There have been reports that if an ECV from a company that is not a Featured Provider is found outside of a room, it could be considered 'abandoned' and the company called to collect it.

Most ecv rental companies provide insurance for the scooters. i think i recall Buena Vista includes insurance for damage or loss. With others you may need to ask for it.

. . . these are guest devices and they must take care of them
. . . WDW does not want the responsibility/liability
. . . the lobby could become a dangerous place
. . . there is no designated scooter-storage recharge resort location, simply not a lo of extra room(s)
2) If it doesn't fit in your room, use an extension cord and put the scooter in the hallway overnight.
