Question about Sci-Fi and MGM closing time

I just tried to make a PS for July when MGM closes at 9pm. The last seating the CM could make was 6:00pm and the last time they seated anyone was 6:20 (but this was already full). I can't believe that Sci-Fi is closing this much earlier than the park. When we went at Thanksgiving last year, Sci-Fi was open for an hour AFTER the park closed. Could this CM be mistaken or is different in the summer for some reason.

I'm really surprised that they are making the last PS so early these days. My family and I always enjoyed eating at Sci-Fi and getting out when we were the only people left in the park.

I guess they really don't want people taking their time after hours. Or they want to cut back a few security jobs so they don't have to have security guards herding people out, sfter hours.

I hope the CM made a mistake or it would just be for that night.

We had a PS there our first night last year and got in so much construction and traffic on the interstate going to WDW that we arrived about three hours later than we had expected. By the time we checked in, got to MGM and bought our APs, we had missed the PS time. We checked at guest services, though, and got another one. I don't remember the exact time it was for, but it was late -- maybe 8 p.m. The park was closed when we left. I'm pretty sure it closed at 9.

The restaurant BTW was only about 1/3 full, so maybe that's why they aren't doing late PSs.
