question about "saucer"

hello everyone,

I recently lucked across a decorative saucer from walt disney world. I was wondering if anyone could help give me a rough idea of the date based on the "copy right being Walt Disney Productions". the saucer has Walt Disney World in bold blue letters along the bottom, in the center is a picture of the castle in blue gold and purples, and in the top right beside the largest peak of the castle is a large blue "D" with a mickey head in the middle made of a sort of globe with 2 ears. the back mark is Walt Disney Productions Japan, with a black upside down triangle containing a Disney D interolcked with a block print type of ear. I hope that someone can decipher what I mean with all this and help.

Since your plate is "productions", that means it was before 1986. Let me ask a couple quick questions: The term "saucer" implies there is a circular depression in the center to hold a cup. I doubt your piece has that, does it?

What is the diameter of the plate?

Is the pic of the castle a graphic, stylized rendering or more of a portrait?

you are correct there is no depression in the plate. it is about 4-6 inches in diameter and the castle is more of a stylized rendering.

If I had to guess, I'd say the plate was sold during the first years of WDW thru probably 1975. I know it was available 1973-1974, and by 1984, it was gone and replaced by by souvies with more sophisticated printing techniques of the castle art. I doubt that the plate was available in the late 70's. Sorry I can't be more exact.

thanks muchly I know more about it than I did. and enough to figure I probably got a decent deal for a buck... a pretty neat little addition for a budding collection.
