looking to keep up my exercise routine while at the fort. Does anyone know the distance from Fort Wilderness trail at the first stop sign near 1200 loop down to the stop sign near 100 loop up and around Big Pine Drive pass 500 & 1400 back to the stop sign at 1200?

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question. I just saw your thread and thought someone was chasing you and I had to have a look-see.:lmao:

LOL... I think the only one who would be chasing me would be my husband to get back his credit card..lol: :rotfl:

Just trying to figure out how many laps around I will need to run while I am there.

I don't know the answer but I once asked a similiar question and someone gave me this link http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

you will have to zoom in and figure out where the fort is

I wish I could remember who told me about it because I use that link all the time now!

I love to walk to WL but I can't get anyone to walk it with me :confused3 they say "why walk when you can take the boat?" pirate:

It's one mile from the Outpost to Settlement going straight up the middle. I would guess it's a little less than a 1/2 mile from 1200 to Settlement. If you take the sidewalk from 1200 and go completely around the big circle back to 1200, you've gone just a little over a mile. Like 1.2 miles.

Not exact distance, but close enough.

we've never figured out distance (we also go to WL & down back road to group camping) either.

Hubby runs 55 mins no matter the distance, so he runs 25-27 mins then turns around and takes exact same path back, no measuring required.

The distance is a little over 1 mile, maybe 1.2. DW and I are doing the W&D 1/2 Marathon Relay this coming weekend and while at FW a few weeks ago I did that loop at 3:00AM, for my 8.3 mile part of W&D, when things were nice a quiet. I lapped my time for every mile and using my 305 Garmin I am pretty sure it is close to the extra .2 mile distance.

After I did my distance DW and I hooked up did another lap and then took Big Pine to the exercise trail and then to WL and back.

Lots of deer early in the AM.

We'll be back at FW in Dec. but that time will be getting ready for the Dopey in Jan.

Have a great time:thumbsup2.

just used that link. DH would have to go 1600 loop to just past settlement, turn left on frontier and go back to 1600 loop, twice, and still would be a little short of his usual distance. cool program, thanks.

I put that link out on this board a long time ago - it's a link on the Birmingham Track Club website (my hometown runners club). According to the tool it's about 1.4 miles around in one big loop like that.

In case anyone is interested, there is an official jogging map for Fort Wilderness. It looks like this:

It's a pretty nice little map that might be useful for anyone not very familiar with the Fort.

You can pick one up at the Front Desk.
