Not sure if this is where I should post. We just made an exchange through RCI for March 14th for a 1 bedroom at Key West. If anyone can help that would be great. We are a family of 5 and the room says it sleeps 4. We have 3 kids ages 17, 7, and the youngest will be 4 on March 12. What we plan on doing is booking through Disney from March 11th to the 13th so we can be down there for her birthday. We will then move into our Key west unit on the 14th. We plan on putting the 2 little ones in the bedroom with us and having the 17 year old on the sofa. I am just wondering if we need to ok this with Disney or will it be ok since the youngest is only 3. I wanted a 2 bdroom but they didn't have anything available for this week and we needed this week because thats when I will be on spring break. I just don't want to get into trouble with having 5 in the room. I will let them know if we need to pay extra for one of them but other than that we are just sleeping there. Any opinions would be helpful. Also the lady on the phone was a little confusing, are we able to get a dining plan since we aren't DVC members and aren't reserving through Disney? Not sure how this works, I know we will be paying $95 on check in for all the resort amenties that Disney offers which is fine with us. We just want to know if the dining can be added because we went in December and it was wonderful not having to worry aobut paying for food.

thanks
Jen

Technically, you are over the occupancy of the villa. It has a king sized bed in the master bedroom and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. You'll get four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths. DVC does allow five in a one bedroom, but they do not provide rollaways, cots, additional towels, etc.

There is telephone number on your exchange documentation for Member Services. You need to call that number and tell them you are exchanging in through RCI. (It's the same number you call to make arrangemetns for the $95 fee).

Generally, those who exchange in are allowed to add the Dining Plan and utilize Magical Express (which apparently, you do not need). You need to add the DP to the reservation at least 3 or 4 days before you arrive. You make those arrangements with Member Services - again, the number is on your RCI documentation.

DVC has been allowing members to have 5 persons of any age in the 1 bedroom units. They are on their own to provide bedding for that 5th person. However, I do not know if exchangers will be allowed the same leeway. Those who book for cash through Disney directly are not allowed the leeway. You'll have to ask Member Services what the policy is for those who exchange into DVC via RCI.

If you are allowed to have 5, then you will be able to get the DP and room keys for all 5 occupants. If you plan to do EMH, all of you will need a room ID/room key.

Since occupancy is a hot topic on this board, I am going to close the thread. those who are interested in discussing it further may do so in the Occupancy Thread.
