We're wondering if you can allow charging privileges on your kids' room cards up to a limit that you set - say $50 each? Is that possible? Or does each card have to have the same limit?

We thought that would be a nice way for the kids to use their allowance $ without the risk of them carrying cash around and losing it, yet still allowing them to be responsible for their own spending. You know, put their $50 down in cash at the front desk for safekeeping & collateral for the card, then just use the card?

I don't think they can do this.

I think it is charges priviledges or no charges priviledges.

It's open charging for each card or none. I gave my kids (16 & 17) charging priviledges and did a printout each night. They were given strict instructions on what they could and could not charge. If the printout showed anything they weren't supposed to do, I would have shut down their charging priviledges the next morning. (Which meant they would have had to hang with us most of the time in order to eat, Oh the Horror!!!) There was never a problem. They also had to keep in touch by cell phone.
