I was going to book the room seperate from the tickets, or should I buy the room and tickets together? Why is there a difference of 175 bucks?

Double check to make sure the room type and ticket options (PH/WPFM) are the same. No reason for an increase of that much.

Depends if there is a discount promotion in effect for the room only and/or for the room & tickets package.

Also don't forget that resorts have different room categories, and promotions that apply to the different categories are in limited quantities. Even the budget (value) resorts with seemingly identical rooms have categories, notably rooms in the buildings nearest the food court cost more.

I would check to verify you are pricing them exactly the same, same options, etc... That sounds like a big difference. The only reason to book them together is for an discount like free dining. You have to book the room, at least 2 days tickets and the dining together.

Disney automatically adds tickets for the day you check in and check out. you can adjust it if you don't need tickets for each day.
