I am plump. 6 ft, and 250. In october Ripsaw falls went down. Just before, my son begged me to go on with him. My question is this. Do plump people fit in this ride. Or is it very uncomfortable. Also, how scary is it. I swear, when i saw some of the boats come down, that steep hill. It looked as though people were sitting on top of the log boat. Just thinking about it makes me terrified. I can handle the hulk. But, that ride does scare me. I have heard people injure themselves on it. I will be there on monday so, can someone please answer. TIA :guilty:

unlike Splash Mtn, the seats aren't side by side, they run the length of the boat. that's why it looks like people are sitting on top of them. I'm 6 ft. as well, I don't think you'll have any problem with comfort. if you can handle the drop on JPRA, you'll be fine on Ripsaw. there are smaller drops leading up to the final one, but they're on par with Splash Mtn.

I nearly got whiplash on this ride. Twinned with being beaten in the face by water, it's not that much fun! But there's just something about it that I like.

I'd do it again :teeth:

Actually I would almost have to put this ride as a MUST DO for me. In my opinion it is the best log ride in the world out of any park anywhere. The theming is amazing.

Also, don't worry about your size. The boats are pretty good size and I'm onlly about 70lbs lighter than you (I'm slightly over 6 ft.) and I fit with a lot of room to spare, I think you will find it comfortable at your size.

Also, this ride is really not near as scary in my opinion as it looks. I admit it looks pretty wild, but its really not. Ride it you'll do fine. I think the drop on Jurassic Park is much more intense in my opinion. You will get a little wet on this, ranges from a little wet to pretty soaked.

You should be fine on the ride. It does look scary, but it's very fun. Just hold on to the inner rails or the seat in front of you.

They've re-done the drop angle and changed the seating arrangements to make the ride much safer. I've been nearly that size and rode it without a problem

When did they change it?

It still hurt back in 2004!!

Curious as to the drop angle being tinkered with...

early '05 when I rode it with DS, I had air time most of the drop (doesn't happen too often;) ) and I was worried about his slim frame (about 60 pounds @ the time) going airborne & out of the vehicle.

lap restraints would be a nice touch IMO.

You'll have no problem fitting in the ride, back when I was over 300lbs I rode it all the time, and I fit, so no problem for you!

See, this is what makes me scared. Airtime, whiplash, hurtbacks. Just, when I think I get the nerve to do it. I read about these stories. I think I will chicken out.

We were there last Feb 05 and the ride was closed for renovations. Prior to that I went on the ride three times. The third time, I swear I got whiplash and had a headache for the remainder of the day. I'm not sure if I'll be brave enough to try again!

When we were there back in May, I went on it 5 tiimes or more that week and didn't have any problems, I guess it's just depends on the person?

uh, yeah there are lots of injuries (looking it up on line may scare the heck out of you, so don't look up injuries) but the thing to remember about this drop is that it's really two drops: a 75 footer and a smaller 15 foot one. hmm............ sit in the middle of the car, not the front or back, and there should be no problems. also, the drop is so intimidating partly because the main drop is curved rather than a straight angle.

I was just thinking about this ride, and remembered. I posted a question about it, before our sept trip. Well, long story short. I was going to skip it. I sent my son on it alone. He went, and then he said ok. Let's go. But, I got the nerve to ask the ranger/attendant about it. He said I could do it. With some more coaxing by my son. We went. I am so glad, I did it. I was so scared, yes i fit, but unbeknowest to me, no restraints. lol. I squoze that little piece of square black fabric, through the whole ride. As if that did something, to protect me.lol . Well now, this is a must do ride for me. I wish, I could ride it now. I want to thank all of you who posted. Because in some way, You all gave me the nerve to do it!! So thank you all very much! You all have made me a dudley ripsaw fall fan for life!!

We rode this in July DD10 DW and me, DW does not go on rides with drops at all , but DD coaxed her to go with her , DW loved it and rode several times while we where there, got very wet in the process, but after RSF she went on all the rides with the exception of Hulk Fire and ice, not bad for someone who "does not do rides "now she cannot wait to next July when we return. Maybe she will try the coasters? then again ,i doubt it.
