We will be at WDW from November 9-16. There will be 8 of us there all week, with one more possibly joining us for 2-3 days. We do not yet know which days the additional person will be coming, and she won't know until late October. When I make our ADRs in May, should I request for 9 people for all of them so that it won't matter which days she joins? I'm worried that if we have a ressie for 9 and only 8 of us are there, they won't seat us. Is that only the policy if you are waiting on party members to get to the restaurant? If 8 of us show up and say the 9th won't be coming, will they seat us with no problems?

book everything for 9 people then revise when you know the dates

As the pp said, book all of them for 9. There would only be a problem if you booked for 8, but showed up with 9 as that would be a different table configuration and might be hard to accommodate on the spot. There shouldn't be any problem getting seated with one less and even though a cc guarantee is required for all TS now, as long as the rest of the party shows up (or at least some of them), you will not be charged for the one that does not.

1. When I make our ADRs in May, should I request for 9 people for all of them so that it won't matter which days she joins?

2. I'm worried that if we have a ressie for 9 and only 8 of us are there, they won't seat us. Is that only the policy if you are waiting on party members to get to the restaurant? If 8 of us show up and say the 9th won't be coming, will they seat us with no problems?

1. Book for the maximum number of people who might be at the restaurant. It's always easier to show up with one less person, than to try and add someone as a walk up or look for a new reservation once you know which days she'll be there. With a group as large as yours and going from an even number to an odd number you'll need a larger sized table.

2. The not being seated unless your entire party is there is in reference to someone telling the CMs at the podium that part of their group is still on the way to the restaurant. When you check in just let the CM know you are now a party of 8 and you'll be fine. Also, you will not be charged for the missing person as long as at least one of you shows up for the reservation.
