Hi all! and Happy New Year!

I am currently considering buying more points through resale and I am planning a major vacation next summer. If I do end up buying more points, they will be at another resort (Hilton Head actually) with a different use year. I currently own at Beach Club.

For my upcoming vacation, I was going to have to borrow most, if not all, of my points from 2005. So my question is: does anyone have experience with using the points from 2 different properties/use years at the same time? and what advice can you offer in point manipulation?

As always, thank you in advance!

Jess

I've bought at three different properties, including resale. However, I made sure I had the same use year on all of them. DVC just added the resale to my existing contract (effectively changing the contract number), so I have a NNNNNN.000, .001, .002 etc. It makes it very easy to handle.

I don't know how it would work with different use years.

My understanding is that you cannot really pool the points from separate contracts. You could book consecutive days, pulling the appropriate number of points from each contract, and then have the reservations linked to insure that you do not have to switch rooms.

In other words, if you have 3 contracts and want to stay Sunday to Friday nights, you could book Sun & Mon under contract 1, Tues & Wed under contract 2 and Thurs & Fri under contract 3.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. But that's how I understood the process.

Also--and I am certain on this point--you can only book a home resort at 11 months up to the number of points you have at that resort. So, if you are wanting to stay at BCV your entire time, you will only be able to book at 11 months using your BCV points. You will have to wait until the 7 month window to book additional days at BCV using your HHI points, and then have the reservations linked by MS.

You can easily make one reservation from 2 (or more) different contracts without problem. MS will link everything together, so you won't have to change rooms.

You can also transfer points from the HH contract to the BCV contract, but that isn't neccesary as you can book individual days from each contract and link all together. I do this for most of our reservations without any problem.

You can only make the reservation using both contracts at 7 months- as all points still retain their home resort and Use Year status.

Enjoy!
