Question about Renting/Transfering Points

We are very close to buying at Saratoga Springs directly from Disney - so we can get the double bonus points. We really want to take the entire family down, but we are still not sure if everyone's schedules will work and if there will be any availability at the resort when we want to go. (like Thanksgiving... ) My husband and I are thinking of a cruise maybe, but again, who knows if that will work out.

My question, how difficult would you say it is to rent or transfer the points if our big family vacation plans don't work?

We are thinking of buying 180 points, so that would be 360 bonus points we have to use in 7 months. For those of you that have rented/transfered before, how much luck do you think we'd have? Granted we wouldn't have to rent/transfer all 360 pts to make it worth our while not to take the 10% credit.

Figure that you would have to use those points in mid Jan or later OR this August. If those times don't work for you, take the discount. You are going to have a hard time getting multiple rooms from Oct to the beginning of Jan. Sept may not be to bad, but near the end of the month it will be very tough. Unless you get a confirmation from your guide as a condition for purchase, you may wind up with all those points that you can't use and might have a difficult time renting the reservation out.

Sometimes the guides will reserve a room for you by "pulling strings". We had that happen on our first purchase. It never hurts to ask anyway.

I have to agree that it would be pretty tough for Thanksgiving, since I think lots of folks are already waitlisted for reservations then. THe same goes for most of December. Later in January and February should be doable though. I also agree that early September is a possibility.
