Question about renting rules

I have a question about what sort of rentals are allowed. I know that the member handbook says that putting 20 reservations into other people's names would generally be seen as commercial activity, and therefore against the rules. This seems perfectly reasonable to me. However, I've run into a situation where I rented to one person, and it generated a huge number of different reservation numbers! I'm wondering if I'm going to have a problem.

Here's the situation. I had some extra points this year because I was able to trade into the DVC via II. I wasn't sure I'd use them, so I offered my points for rental. I had someone who contacted me a few months ago who wanted two studios for this summer. Only a few days here-and-there were available, but I figured that indicated a good chance of getting the rooms via the waitlist. So, I agreed to go on the waitlist, with the understanding that I'd rent out the room if the waitlist came through. The renter gave me a $100 deposit, refundable only if the waitlist didn't come through at least 45 days in advance.

The waitlist request has now come through, but since it came through day-by-day, I have a different reservation number for each night and each room. So, that gives 14 reservations for a single week! I know this is still less than 20, but it's a lot! It hadn't occurred to me that I'd end up with so many reservation numbers that I needed to put into other people's names. Do you think Disney will see this as doing "14 rentals" (which is getting pretty close to commercial activity?) :confused3 Or, will they see it as just one or two, since what I have is a bunch of linked ressies for one person, plus another bunch of linked ressies for another person for the same dates?

Are you a commercial renter? Doesn't sound like it to me. Don't worry about it.

DVC hasn't addressed the technicality of how they count the number of reservations. I think the reasonable way would be to count a single reservation as one even though it may technically have several reservation numbers. I too wouldn't worry about it.

Disneynutz and Dean, thanks for the reassurance!

I haven't been following this topic very closely, so I don't know what Disney does if they think you have put too many reservations into other people's names. Anyone know more about what they might do? What would be really awful is if they just canceled the reservation -- I don't want to risk even a slight chance of my renter showing up and being denied a room, or having to scramble for another room at the last minute. On another thread, it was briefly mentioned that Disney sends out "warning letters" if they feel that you have too many reservations in other people's names. I tried searching for more threads about this, but couldn't get the search function to work (surprise, surprise!)

You will be fine all the reservations numbers will be linked together for just one reservation. They can see that you were on the waitlist and they were for day by day. I would not sweat it at all. I am sure that DVC would contact you if they have a problem with it.
But if the persons name is on all the reservations you are all good.

OK, glad to hear it! Thanks to all who posted!
