Question about renting points

Hi All!
For our next trip we're thinking about renting DVC points - this will be our first time doing so! How far in advance would you recommend finding someone to rent points from?
I know at 11 months out you're able to book at your home resort - are there certain resorts that book up quickly right at 11 months?
We're interested in the Poly (studio) or AKL (studio or club level).

It will depend on time of year but for the most part you'll want to book as close to 11 months as possible. Poly and AKV shouldn't be a problem 7-11 months much of the year but will book quickly October-January. For AKV don't expect to get Club level as it's nearly impossible even for owners right at 8AM 11 months out.

Yes, depending when you want to go the 11 month booking window can be very important. If you want a fall reservation, plan to book it 11 months in advance. Most owners will expect full payment at the time of making the reservation.

I was able to get BLT lake view in the summer of '17 at 6 months out. The big categories for summertime should, but may not, remain open until around then for that time of year. For the fall, everything gets gobbled up quickly, regardless of category.

Every season is busy for renting points. More people want to rent than owners want to provide.

If you can book at 11 months out, there's no reason to wait. @_auroraborealis_ is right, the issue for many renters is owner availability, more than resort availability. You don't want to start looking at 7 months out and then be waiting two months for an owner who's renting the points you need.

late January is pretty easy to book and other than MLK weekend, you should not have any problem booking at 7 months or even 4 months out, but best availability will be to book ASAP
