question about renting points

How far in advance do you need to make reservations using DVC points? I am asking, because I might be making a last minute trip, and I would be interested in renting points.

DVC members can make reservations 11 months out at their home resort and 7 months out at their non-home resort. Rooms can be available at the last minute, depending on resort, what room type you're looking for, and dates of travel.
