Hi everyone! We're considering renting DVC points for the first time, so forgive me if I sound like a total newb. :goodvibes

We want to stay at *. There's definitely availability, I know that much. When I'm renting DVC points through someone and they're booking for me, are they/can they book me a package, or is the rental for room only?

Also, I tested some villa packages on the Disney website and was surprised to find that the 750 dollar gift card offer was available for the Villas as well. If one can book me a package, can they book me a package with this gift card option?

Thanks for the help, all! :thumbsup2

how do you know? if you can see it on the wdw website, that is cash inventory - points inventory might still be used up...

room only. no packages on points stays.

the DVC owner can add the dining plan (never "free" dining, though) and you'll pay disney for it later. the DVC owner can also set you up for magical express. you are on your own for tickets - most use online sellers like undercovertourist or mapleleaftickets.

Have you checked with an owner to see if rooms are available for that time? Boardwalk is one of the smaller DVC resorts and is usually harder to get into.

Unless you have had a member call member services, there is no way to know if there is member availability at BWV during your desired timeframe.

Though it's hard for some folks to understand, there is seperate inventory for cash ressies and member ressies. Cash ressies come from points that members have exchanged for other stays like cruises etc. They are no longer a part of the DVC inventory and can't be booked using DVC points.

Any "special packages or offers" are promotions directly from Disney. The DVC member who is renting points has no access to those, since he is renting what HE owns, not what Disney owns. If you think those offers give you a better price break than renting points, then you should book directly through Disney. Owners are not travel agents. They are just DVC owners who can't use their points, and need to get some value out of them before they expire.

When you rent a reservation from a DVC member, it is totally different than booking a package through Disney.

You qualify for none of the Disney specials, do not get daily mousekeeping, and depending on the contract with the owner, will have different cancellation policies than when going through Disney.

The inventory you are seeing, as others have mentioned, on the WDW is not the same as what is available for DVC owners. The only way to know if you can get a BWV rental is to have a member call. And, with DVC, a room can be available one day, and gone the next, especially when calling only 3 - 4 months out.

The owner can add ME and the DDP to your reservation if you want. But, the reservation remains the owners and they are the only one who can call about it. Your name would be listed as the resort guests, but you can't access it to make changes, etc. Everything goes through the owner.

Tickets are on your own. You can buy them through WDW or any other authorized seller like AAA or undercovertourist.

There are definite differences between a WDW booking and a DVC rental. You can certainly save a lot doing a DVC rental as that is the biggest perk.

Good luck!
