Question about remaining days on KTW card

We had 10 day non expiring with park hopper and water park tickets. We used these on a stay about 6 or 7 years ago and have 5 days remaining and all of the water park. Haven't used them since since because we have been going for longer stays and buying APs. My question is this : would it be a good idea to bring them with me ( heading down this week) to convert to different ticket media? I think I have to do that at whatever point I want to use them anyways so wasn't sure if it would be good to do now or not. My hesitation is that that ticket type no longer exists and didnt know how they would handle it.

You need to convert them to a card.. this can be done at any theme park or DS... I am not sure if it can be done at a resort. We changed ours over a few years ago at MK. At that point you can use them as is on the card or add them to a magic band or MDE account however once you do this they can no longer be changed... I would hold onto the card use as necessary and if at some point you want to give them to another person in your family you can than add them to their magic band... It was not against the rules Disney allowed you a one time change of ownership when they changed the ticket system, I am sure not because they wanted to but had to and yes you actual can get 2 changes of ownership should you leave the reaming days/options on a card.

Thanks, I figured if I had time during this trip I might as well try and do it. That way when we do want to use them, we will be able to make FP etc ahead of time.

It does not matter that there is no longer non-expiration tickets.
They will put them on new tickets and you will still have non-expiration.
My parents did this and still have 2 days remaining.
I think it would be a good idea to do it now so that when you do want to use them you can link them to MDE and make your FP+ selection in advance.

Sounds like the key to this is to convert to new media whenever possible, but don't add them to MyDEx until necessary, since they'll then be "locked in" to a single person.

I'm in the same position with some tickets I bought in 2000, and might finally be finishing off for a trip this Fall. Been using a day here and a day there since about 2004.
