Question about referrals...

If we refer someone to DVC and they eventually sign up, do we get anything? I seem to remember getting something in the mail about certain things you can get for referrals - like money off of your annual dues if the person you refer buys in, or free points, etc. (I can't find that letter to save my life.)

So we told some friends about DVC and they're looking into it. I know because we got a "thank you" from DVC for referring someone to the program. I don't know if my friends will join and I would never push them about it, but if they did, it would be kind of nice to get some kind of reward from DVC. Can I expect to get a little token of appreciation from DVC?

I believe right now the referrer gets 200 dollars off their dues.

It also depends on what state you are located in. See the Member Website for a list of prohibited states from receiving the referral award.

you have choices of $200 towards either your dues, same amount of Disney dollars, save for future points purchase or can donate it to charity, provided you are from an eligible state. After the first referral, the amount goes up with each new referral,up to a total of 5 referrals per year.

I don't belive you are eligible. I am in PA and have refered 2 different people who signed up for DVC. I never got anything, just a thank you card.

Here are the eligible states:
Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico also is an eligible jurisdiction.

I'm not sure. The terms and conditions on the website do not discuss any eligibility outside the US. You might want to contact your guide to make sure.

Note: If you are referring someone, be sure to stress that they have to mention the referral the minute they talk to the guide. If it happens even the second time that DVC contacts the person, you are not eligible for a referral bonus. People have been disappointed when friends had contact DVC years in the past and they were not eligible because of that.

Absolutely correct....

Your referralee must mention you name before meeting with the sales guides. So if they make an appointment at a DVC desk or Kiosk, they must mention your name at the time of making an appointment, or you will not get the referral gift.

You are also limited to 5 referrals per year, starting at $200.00 and maximizing out at $1000.00. It is not by even $200.00. IIRC, 200, 350, 500, 750 and 1000 come to mind.......
