Hello,

I am wondering which rate do you use when booking with an AP for the discount. Would it be Be A Savvy Traveler or Seasonal Rate? Also does anybody know when the AP Seasonal Pass rates come out for January 2022? Thanks so much. :flower1:

The AP rate is a completely separate rate. I book whatever is cheapest to make sure that I have the room that I want and then from about three months out check to see whether AP rate has been released o a daily basis ( morning coffee= check for AP rate). I have always had to cancel my existing booking and rebook at AP rate rather than modify online.

Savvy Traveler used to be called “Stay More Save More” and if you look back on our historical price threads here you might see it abbreviated as SMSM -that rate is for longer term bookings, you get a better rate for 5 nights instead of 3, 7 nights instead of 5, etc.

The AP rate is separate. Pre Covid Jan 2022 AP rates wouldn’t be expected to be out before Fall 2021. But this year who knows? I would check here or bookmark a link and start checking for the AP rate every few days later this summer.

In my personal experience the Savvy Traveler 7 day rate will be close/ball park to the future AP rate.

Its a good idea to check in here though. Sometimes there are room upgrade offers even if the actual price doesn’t go down.

Thank you @Welsh_Dragon and @AJA for the info. I'm getting together with my friend tonight to talk about and plan the trip as much as we can at this point. This was all very helpful. We're staying 5 nights at Sapphire Falls the last full week in January 2022. This will be the first time going to UO for both of us. We are both really looking forward to it. We hope to spend a lot of time in TWWOHP. We are big Potter fanatics. I talked myself into getting an interactive wand and I think my friend will get one two. We'll be the two older women trying all the spells with the younger generation. LOL Thanks again. 😊

The code for annual passes is "APH". Here is a link to look at the prices for Jan 3-7: https://res.windsurfercrs.com/ibe/d...ls=&ada=0&currid=0&vouchercode=&attendeeCode=. The APH rates usually come out 2-3 months earlier, so it will be a while before they show up. It will likely save quite a bit more than the BaST rate; is is usually 30-45% below the seasonal rate.

https://www.disboards.com/threads/wizarding-world-touring-plans-and-details.3666427/ is a great thread about how to tour HP. There are many details in the HP area that are easy to miss if you don't know where to look. Even after several trips, I still find new things...

Thank you very much. @cfoxga The links and info are greatly appreciated. Everyone here has been so helpful and kind. I'm learning so much. Thanks again. :flower1:

You won't be the only adult practicing their spells.

At that time of year, wearing a HP robe is very nice. You can wrap it around yourself in the morning for extra warmth and leave it open in the middle of the day. A hood is a hat that can't fly away. It also has a pocket to store your wand.

Our first trip, I made a Ravenclaw robe for DD, and a Jedi robe for DH. He told people he was a homeschooled wizard, so he didn't have a house color. I ran out of time for me and had to buy one there. I don't like it. The fabric is polyester. I'd been warned about that ahead of time, but I didn't worry since I'm not a fabric snob. The problem is that the fabric also FEELS like polyester. The hood is only almost wearable. It is a little too short and the long point makes the back of it heavy and it falls off. I am sewing a robe for myself now. If either of you can sew at all, I'd recommend that.

Another nice thing about that time of year, is that your visit might be when an unofficial Harry Potter event happens. There used to be an official event there, but Universal stopped doing it. I assume because the actors got older. So, then it went underground. I think they called it "The Event That Shall Not Be Named". We stumbled on it last year. A bunch of people cosplaying HP at the parks and there was a group photos

Thanks for the advice on the robes @shawthorne44. I almost didn't pass the sewing part of home economics when I was in 7th grade. I tried to make a mobile for my niece being born that school year. It was a total mess. I ended up giving it to my sister with the parts that weren't sewn on. She stitched them on and it hung on my nieces bedroom wall for years. The teacher was at her wits end with me. She passed me because she knew I worked hard on it. My niece is now 34 and has a little 6 month old daughter of her own. I don't think I could sew more than a button now. I really am all thumbs. You're a good wife and mother to sew your daughter and husband robes. 🙂

I saw on Youtube a video of the cosplay day at the park this year and it looked really fun. They had some great costumes on. I think it was on The Potter Collector channel on Youtube. I have bought 3 Harry Potter t shirts with long sleeve t shirts to wear under them if it's cold and I have bought 3 new Harry Potter ball caps to wear with them. For something fun for my friend and I I'm purchasing 2 Gryffindor House scarves for us to wear. We're both Gryffindor's so I hope we can tell them apart. That's about the extend of my Harry Potter clothing. Oh I do have some earring and I'm getting a Gryffindor lanyard too. 🧙‍♀️

I'm starting to get really excited. Everyone here has been such a great help to me with all the important details I need to know. I have now put a countdown on my phone and I'm 324 days away. Thank you to everyone here who has helped me. I really appreciate it a great deal. I'll probably be asking some more things as time goes by. :thanks:
