Question about race capacity for the Princess 1/2 Marathon!

Does anyone know how large the maximum field of runners is? I noticed they opened up 2,500 more spots in the race, which brought the percentage of capacity reached down from 92% to 87%....

I can do the (rough) apparent math (it seems 5% more capacity opened up with the addition of 2500 more slots for runners....) but I can't believe there are going to be 50,000 runners in this race. Maybe they are using fuzzy math? Or maybe I am!!

Does anyone know?

Maybe the 2500 slots includes the 5K so that only 1250 might be the 5% for the half.

I didn't think of that idea. I hadn't checked to see whether the 5k capacity percentage had decreased when the extra 2500 slots were made available... still, that would make 25,000 runners for the half. Which is a lot. Something must be wrong with my math....??

The Princess doesn't get anywhere near 25,000 entrants. I think last year there were about 7,000 runners or so (but there are others here that know better than I do). I think the capacity this year would be in the 10,000 - 12,000 range.

I also don't think the 5k runner counts are included in the recent percentage change for the half because the 5k percentage full did not change (55%) when then half percentage did (from 92% to 87%, after the add'l 2,500 runners). HTH.

I agree. I think they are doing "Mickey Math" ... I kind of think the number they report as the percentage of capacity reached is semi-made-up. Otherwise this just doesn't make sense. I know this race is much smaller than the January half. Does not compute.

Oh well. I signed up for it anyway! Nothing like deciding at the last minute to do a race...
