I think I have finally convinced DH to buy into DVC We are renting points for our May vacation and hope to go on the tour and purchase while we're down there. If I buy 160 points with an August UY, am I correct that we would get the 2007 points when we buy and then get 2008's points on August 1. If so, what would we be able to do with the 2007 points, isn't that past the time we could bank them?

Yes that is true that you would get them now and then again in August,if they are still offering that when you are there in May.It may be diffrent by then,cant say for sure.I think that they would let you bank them. You could also rent them oout if you wanted t and get a bit of your money back.

Yes it would be past the banking deadline for an August UY. But, I would have your guide bank them for you when you are writing the paperwork. I have also heard that member services sometimes waves the banking deadline if you have just purchased your points.

You may or may not be able to buy August use year in May as a new purchaser and get 2007 points. As for new purchasers, Disney is usually selling some use year month that begins four to five months before the date of purchase so likely in May, it will be selling a December (or possibly even February) use year. It may vary that if you request but whether you can get August with 2007 points is not something that will definitely happen for a new purchaser. If it does, banking is usually not an issue because they generally allow new purchasers to choose to bank any points as part of the sale regardless of whether banking date has run.
