Question about Poly in October

This will be my first trip to Disney in years and my first with kids. I was very surprised to find that the concierge building was full at the Poly for my first choice of dates- Oct. 4-10. Is something going on at WDW at this time or is it normal for this whole building to be full 9 months in advance? By slightly changing my dates I was able to get a garden view concierge room in early October but without any discount, not even a AAA rate. Are concierge rooms eligible for AAA discount and is it likely that I could get this or some other discount if I keep calling? (I have a room only reservation.) Thanks for any information.

October is a very popular month at Disney, so much so the rates are no longer value season but regular. There is the Golf Tournament, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party, just to name a few special events. This is a very popular month for conventions and many schools throughout the country get Fall Breaks now.

Discounts for prime times go quickly and are limited. You might get something if you keep trying.
