Not sure where to put this but can you borrow points from the next year? Say we want to go in 2013 but only have 100 points and we need 175, can we borrow that form the year 2014? TIA

sort of - depends on use year and when your stay occurs.

when you book a reservation (11 months ahead at your home resort/7 mos elsewhere), you always have access to the current pts in that UY ("current" based on when you stay, not when you call to book) + banked pts from the prior UY (if you have any) + borrowed pts from the next UY (if needed).

i have an oct UY, so i can call in dec 2012 to book a stay for nov 2013 using current 2013 pts + banked 2012 pts + borrowed 2014 pts.

but if i wanted to stay in sept 2013, that is in my 2012 UY (which runs from oct 2012 through sept 2013). so in that case, i could use pts from 2011 (banked) + 2012 + 2013 (borrowed) but would not have access to 2014 pts.

here is a great thread about UY that you might want to read (and possibly bookmark):

Thanks so much for all that info and the link. We are thinking of joining DVC but would rather not finance it so I thought if we had a smaller contract and was able to borrow that it would work. We would most likely go every other year. Thanks again.
